Happy New Year!

So today is the official day of the new year for my fellow Khmer, Thai, and Laos folks. This is another one of those times when I miss being at home and being with my family. My Parents are big Temple goers and its tradition for them to attend the many New Year events and festivities that are going on around this time back in my home town. Growing up, I would have a couple back to back performances each day for a couple of weeks straight. (Cambodian Classical and Folk Dancing) I miss those good ol' days.

I dream of having a daughter so that she would take part in the Cambodian ballet like I did when I was young. The experience opened my eyes to my people and the richness of my culture. I learned to appreciate the art that my ancestors worked hard in creating and my people fought to keep alive. Yes, it took time and dedication to learn all of these dances, but it was worth every sweat and sometimes, tear. The knowledge and confidence gained is priceless.

I know that there are a lot of events going on in the Long Beach area, also known as Cambodia Town. For some reason though, it just doesn't feel the same to me, being so far away from home and my Family. I must learn to embrace and enjoy.

Happy New Years! May this year and many years to come bring you nothing less than the best in health and happiness.

Excitement!

2010 will definitely be my year! Maybe even tomorrow, I will put out what I've been working on. Oh wait... most likely not tomorrow since I'll be going to the People's Choice Awards in LA with a few of my girlfriends! Heheh.... still a little sad I turned down my "Thyda + 1" because I wouldn't ditch them like that. Maybe if I had a "Thyda +3"!?!

Let me summarize what's been going on that I might get a chance to elaborate on later...

  • I won a Kodak pocket video camera from Twitter and it really came! For a minute, I thought that they were lying and I was never going to get anything... the "contest" was just a ploy to draw followers and audience. But I was wrong... so so so wrong! I GOT MY CAMERAAAAA!! AND.... it records in HD! How cool is that? Nearly $200 and its all mine for free free free all because I retweet! Whoever said that Twitter is pointless is so wrong.
  • New Years' was great... but I gained about 10 pounds over the course of four days. Seriously. Lard status. We watched the Travis something guy jump his car. Redbull really does give you wings... and guts! I gotta admit... it was pretty cool! Countdown with some of the coolest people in SoCal and a kissy kiss from my Hubbs! Yum, yum, yum!
  • I think the guys like Taboo more than we do. Its official... we have Taboo at my place and I am going to be the master at that game! Watch! If you want to see three loser boys do 45 sit ups for losing, ask me to see the video! HAHA!
  • I looooooooooove my new phone. Thanks to my honey bunches of oats! Goodbye Blackberry... I once loved you so much, but the grass really was greener on the other side. On that side, there was Android!
  • I have a newfound... actually... grown much more appreciation for my Family. They are my true loves. Really.
  • I love exercising my brain, but not so much my body. Its obvious.
  • My addiction is still lingering. I don't think it will be leaving anytime soon. Matter of fact, it might just grow even more this year. Good or bad? I don't know.
  • I have so much I want to do... where does the time go?

Okay... updates later but I really hope that I can share my goods with y'alls soon!

*hugs*

BTW... how is your year going so far?

Moving On...

I know that I said I will post a blog to reflect on 2009 and talk about my goals of 2010... but I could spend that time working towards my goals instead. Therefore, I will have to revisit this topic another time... perhaps after I get what I want to get done... done?

Changes are coming... you will see!

May your 2010 be blessed with much happiness and success... be filled with nothing less than joy and laughter all throughout the 365 days of this year.

Peace.

Goodbye, 2009

I had to sneak away from the party people for a minute to make this post. I just HAD to make a last post of 2009. I wanted to reflect and elaborate more, but there were just not enough hours of the day today. Ahhhh...

Okay, so here's a toast to all the good times that we had this past year. Much has happened and changed, I can't even begin to explain right now after a few sips with my friends.. but I must say that this had been a memorable year. Although there were many downs, there were also many ups that I cannot dismiss or forget.

Again, more to come tomorrow, perhaps... but lets say THANK YOU to 2009. So long, farewell.. its time to say goodbye! You will be gone, but not forgotten.

*hugs*

Happy New Years...!

I'm really looking forward to celebrating the new year this month... especially this weekend! So much to do all in one weekend that it had been extended all the way until Monday night/Tuesday morning! LOL!

Do Khmer people make New Years' resolutions? Just curious. I refuse to put my resolution in writing because I don't want to break anything. Its not that I don't want to follow through, but I'm just being realistic and honest to myself. We'll just see how it goes. :)

I have absolutely NOTHING to wear all weekend. Ahhhhhh!

I miss my Baby so much. He's so homesick and really wants to come home. Ahhhh... 7 more weeks, Baby! I can't wait to have him back on the west coast and be in the same time zone as him. LOL! I know it sounds lame, but it really does make things difficult. We're planning our trip for when I go see him in May... I'm so excited! Might be a pre-honeymoon! LOL! Need to work out logistics... thats for sure!

I really need a tan. You can see my paleness seeping through again. Fat looks better dark. :(

New Years Resolution

I'm horrible at keeping New Year Resolutions, but you know what? I'm going to set some anyway! Maybe this will be THE year that I will follow through with them? Who knows?

  • Workout consistently
  • Run a 5K race or two
  • Save some money (hopefully)
  • Learn how to cook more
  • Watch what I eat
  • Better organize myself, my space, and my time
  • Send out Christmas cards (lol)
  • Stick with all my blogs
  • Start a piggy bank instead of losing all my chump change that could easily be hundreds by now
  • Learn how to be a great wife
  • Make this year the best year yet!!!

Rung in the NEW YEAR..

Last night was absolutely fantabulous!

Sandy, Mary, and I ended up not going to the New Years Nation party held at the Seattle Aquarium because we procrastinated and weren't sure if we wanted to go in the first place. By the time we decided to buy the ticket, it was sold out. Matter of fact, it was so oversold that they had to refund about 150 people! Who had ever heard of such thing? Especially when it was $65... and then they jacked up the price to $85! Crazy, I tell you!

The girls and I ended up getting a room at the Alexis Hotel, where our "If I Were A Boy" party was held. Charlie AKA Chuck happened to be throwing a party at the suite there too. So we all got ready and had a few drinks at the hotel before we all went out separate ways. Sandy was going to be my date for the night since it was just going to be us... so we decided to have, "a drink for a drink". I should not have suggested this because I knew damn well that Sandy can drink me under the table! Anyway... we had a few too many drinks... checked out Charlie's party together as a group and saw that there weren't many people there yet. So... Sandy and I decided to walk to the McCormicks & Schmick's around the corner from the hotel. We made room for ourselves at the bar... and talked about our resolutions and tons of other drama that I will not get into because it is just too much. The couple sitting next to us smiled at me, so I wished them a Happy New Year with my appletini! I think that they were a bit surprised.. in a good way. The lady told me that she loved my Happy New Year tiara... and I offered to make a trade with her for her man's hat. She was thrilled and jumped on my offer right away. Apparently, they've been looking for it all night! Then... they bought Sandy and I a round of appletinis to thank me for the tiara. How sweet! And did I mention that the tiara was only 50 cents? HAHAHA... we had more in our room, thanks to Unie!

Mary and Jah joined us for some bites... then we went back to our room to get more drinks (chug, chug, chug)... and then found our way back to Charlie's party. After partying with me a few times, he was prepared with TWO decks of cards! I punked his guests in a few rounds of high/low. Everyone was so wasted that they didn't even realize that Sandy and I were fooling them like crazy! There's one guy there who calls me BOSSY! He thinks I"m bossy, and I don't know why. I'm going to have to disagree. He said that I always punk people to drink and that makes me bossy. False... that makes me Wanttogeteverybodydrunky! :D

Counted down with the TV. I think I proved that guy's point again when I made everyone get ready to countdown. LOL! Oh well... at least they listened! Sam was on the phone during the countdown... kind of corny, huh? LoL! Whatever works!

Not too long after the countdown, we went back to our room (Sandy, Mary, and I). I was pretty shit faced at the time and I guess I sort of fell asleep in my jacket and my heels. Sandy and Mary went back to the party to grab something and forgot to get the key from me. HAHAHAHA! Whoops on their part! I was so knocked out and I guess I didn't hear my phone ring or the bangs on the door... for about another hour! They had to wait until the others got back from the aquarium because Jane had the other key. LMAO! Oooops! When I knock out, I knock out... especially when drunk! They should already know me by now!

So... they took full advantage of me.. and the eyeliners in the bathroom. HAHAHA! I will try to refrain from posting these pictures, especially when I didn't even have my camera with me last night. They drew eyeballs on me the way I drew on DoHan at his birthday a few months ago. They tried to give me lashes... wrote HI on my forehead, wrote "I Stink" on my arm, gave me a barbwire tattoo, drew glasses on for me, accentuated my cleavage, put a crown on me and posed with me for millions of pictures. At one point, someone pulled my tongue out for a picture! WTF?! I guess payback is a biyatch, huh? :P

They all said that drawing on me was the highlight of their night. Well... I'm glad I can make the best of their first couple hours of the new year! :)

I didn't know that they sent a picture to Sam... I woke up and saw a text saying, "Babe were you that messed up last night? That picture they sent me was so ugly!" LOL! And thats when I found out they sent him a picture. Bitches.

Though my New Years eve going into New Years was sort of short, it was a wonderful, wonderful time! I love my friends!

BUSY

Man... been busy all this week and barely had time to update my blog (obviously).

It was hard to wake up and get back to the usual routine on Monday. My sleeping habit during the four day weekend was ALL jacked up and catching a cold sure didn't help. Talk about major work overload on Monday though... ugh... the downfall of having a nice, long, relaxing weekend... you come back to a stack of work that needs to get caught up or done. Bleh!

One of the girls in our office, her family owns a winery. Her dad was sweet enough to drop off some bottles of wine at the office that day along with some turkey soup that I missed out on. Most everyone who was in the office that day stayed and hung out after work over some good ol' crackers, cheese, and wine! I'm not much of a wine drinker, but Grace is! She came by earlier than our scheduled dinner/happy hour date and got to meet most of my coworkers. I think my friends would get along great with my coworkers... some of the sweetest people I could ever imagine working with! :D After a few, Nara, Sunaro, and Pearl joined us at Noc Noc... a bar just around the corner from my office. The Happy Hour there is great! Check this out... we got one whole bottle of wine, my rum and pineapple juice, and 7 appetizers for only $25! What a freakin' deal, right? And the servings were pretty big that Grace got to take some of it home with her that night... hehe! And another great thing, its right by work so whoever joins in can just park in my parking garage... thats if other cars have already left and there's parking available. My head was pounding though... and the loud music (that wasn't there the last time I was there with Nack, Grace, and Chanh) was not helping. I guess there was music and dancing (like a club) on Tuesday nights. A few of my coworkers ended up there too... and they told me the next day that they actually stayed to dance! Hehe... so funny! By the time I got home that night, I was literally crawling into bed!

Oh... I found out that I have Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, January 1st off. Freakin' A... and I am going to Vegas the weekend AFTER. Stupid! Should have better planned things. Now, if I am getting a fat bonus like I'd like to, I'm definitely going somewhere for New Years! A four day weekend doesn't happen very often, so you'd bet I'm going to take advantage of it! :D
