A "LONG" Day!

Things are just starting to SLOW DOWN, so I have a few minutes to reminisce and share the memories of a lovely day with you all.

Durand happens to be Sam's best friend... in fact, he was his best man!  I met him and Lily for the first time over four years ago when Sam and I first got together.  I knew right away that these two were the perfect couple and were meant to be together.  I was right!  ;)  These two have been a few of the closest group of friends I've made since I've moved down here to California.  I can honestly say that if I needed someone to hug or talk to about anything, I can always count on Lily... and Durand too (for the non girly stuff).  Anyway, they are awesome people and such great friends to have.  Sam and I couldn't be happier for this beautiful couple... we were waiting for a LONG time for that day!

Their wedding was a beautiful one... one that I wish I can relive and make it last longer because I was having a blast!!  Below are some of the pictures from the traditional Cambodian ceremony followed by the awesome reception.  Enjoy!

On our way!  (I was broadcasting live from my phone)

Had to pose at 7am in front of the house before the ceremony! ;)

Blessing the lovely couple!
(why is my face so wide? haha... just got done eating, I guess)

US!

This is HOTT!  Love them!

My California Family of Friends - LOVE these people to death!

The girlies and my sweet Mother in Law!  :)

The newlyweds and their sea of faces of their friends!  Cool picture!

 The Long's, The Lok's, and The Lim's... I meant Sim's!  :P

Our good friend Mikal of Lok In The Moment (LOKITM Photography) did a BEAUTIFUL job on the pictures.  View more of the "Long" wedding here:  Lily & Durand Long Wedding

Weddings... can you feel the love?

I woke up this morning to the sun rays beaming through my weak shutters and birds chirping.  Thats how I knew it is going to be a great day.  And even if it isn't a perfect day, I am going to try my best to make it a wonderful one.  Got an interview this morning... and so do 29 others who are fighting for the same position that I am going for.  I know that it sounds like a lot and is a bit intimidating, but I am trying not to let it get to me.  I have nothing to lose and the least that I can gain from this is practice.  I always learn something new, and I am ready for that at the very least.

Looking on my calendar and I can see that wedding season is kicking in.  I have at least one wedding to attend each month for the next 6 months.  Wow.  I love weddings and I am not complaining one bit, but it makes me feel giddy inside to know that my friends are falling in love and taking this step into their future.  I can't explain how happy I am to know this and I hope that I can join each and every one of them on their wedding day... though this might be difficult since the weddings are held all over the world, it seems.  I just found out that my cousin's son (who is 21) is getting married in May!  Personally, I feel that 21 is a bit young, but who am I to say?  I don't know their relationship and as long as they are happy and in love, I couldn't be happier for the little twerp I call my "nephew".  (all of my cousins' kids are my nieces and nephews to me... the whole second and third cousin thing is just way too confusing to remember with a huge family like mine)  There is something about weddings that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  :)

My best friend is getting married this summer... the same weekend as my wedding anniversary (so we can celebrate our wedding anniversaries together in the future, duh!).  They are so in love and one of the most loving couples that I know!  She calls me for tips and suggestions on a lot of the wedding plans, and I am loving it!  Although I am a thousand miles away, its nice to know that she still comes to me when she needs a second or third opinion.  I'm glad that even when we are so far away, our friendship still grows and we still make time for each other... even if its for the half hour morning commutes to work.  Anyway... wedding planning is so much fun when its not your own.  As indecisive as I am, thank goodness I am not the one who has to make the final decision like I did for my own wedding.  I am one of the people who can come up with a million ideas and suggestions but if you were to ask me to make a decision, my mind goes numb and blank.

I look forward to the little things like the Save-the-Dates, the details on the invitations, the centerpieces, the guestbook, the cake topper, the wedding favors, the details on the dresses... you know, all the fun stuff.  OH... and I especially look forward to the food and the dancing!  (How could you not?)  Inevitably, I am going to need waterproof mascara.  I don't remember going to a wedding where I did not cry at.  Yes, I am a sucker for love and a walking ball of emotions and tears.  My friend asked me to help her find some readings for her ceremony, and I was crying while coming across some things I found on Google!  Yes, Google makes me cry!

Let me reminisce my wedding a little bit...

Daddy and Mommy pretending to cut my hair.
Laughing and crying tears of joy because I adore my Parents so much!

Mommy kissing me and whispering in my ear in Khmer how much she loved me as she was blessing me... I couldn't hold it in.

SOME of the elders in my Family on stage as we all gave our "thank you" speech.  Mommy kissing me as I spoke and tried to hold in my tears.  Thanks, Mom... you just defeated the purpose and made me cry more!  LOL

Dancing with my HANDSOME Daddy.  He doesn't dance and kept trying to tell me to cut it short.  No way, Jose... we are dancing until the very last tune!  He is so adorable and still to this day, the Man with the biggest heart anyone has ever known.

Resemblance? Its in our personalities and our upper lips (they disappear when we smile)... LOL!

Hitting the dance floor with my Friends and Family.  The Man in te black suit and the big smile is my loving Uncle... who I love sooooo much!  I tend to get silly with all of my Family members and I don't think I'd ever grow out of it and they still see me as the silly little 7 year old without any front teeth!  :D

and finally, with my loving Husband.  (nuff said)

Okay... reminiscing some of the happiest moments of my life set the mood to an even greater day and now I am going to knock the socks off whomever is interviewing me.  I hope they're ready for this!  :)

Home...

Washington will always be home to me (its hard to choose one city when really, I'm all over the place and have lived in many different "cities" there... every few miles is a different city, it seems).

I am honored and thankful for Elisa to even considering me to be her MakeUp Artist for her big day. Even more so when she flew me up there for that reason. Weddings are all so different and so fun! I have been on both sides of the situation now and I truly understand the stress and pressure that the Bride and wedding party go through. Its a lot of work and each married couple deserves a nice long vacation right afterward... I guess thats why there's such thing as a honeymoon, right? Anyway... I learn something new everyday and I've learned and taught myself quite a bit at this wedding. One thing is for sure... I need to be more confident with my work. I wish I would have had time to take pictures and focus on the makeup, but I didn't. I didn't sleep for two nights prior so I was pretty out of it. Hehe... more details later, perhaps!

I got to hang out with my Family... that was very important. Yes, I managed to yell at the kids... just like usual. Haha! Love my Parents... I've missed them a lot.

Okay... update more later... much more to say.

What a morning!

Ahhh! So this morning, I really wanted to finish up some of the stuff I had in the refrigerator so that it wouldn't go bad while we were out in Laughlin. So... decided to whip something up for Sam's lunch and I sort of over poured on an ingredient and its just not the same. I feel so bad because I didn't have time to make something else for him. He said that its fine, but I can tell that its not. I don't know why I feel so bad and pretty shitty when he can easily throw it away if he wants and just get something else. Ahhh... staying out of the kitchen for awhile.

Went shopping yesterday... how is Sam ever so patient with me? o_O I can't believe we shopped for 7 hours straight and at no point did we sit down to stop and take a break. HAHA!

The other day, we picked up the pictures from the CA wedding (finally). It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be and thank goodness I wiped off as much makeup as I did because I came out looking halfway decent. I'll upload the other pictures later, but since I'm so vain, here's a picture of me that I have up on Facebook. Wuahhahah!

What I like about them is that they're CLEAR! I didn't expect anything too fancy anyway... but they did a great job for the price that they charged. The people I wanted to blame for my stress/anger that day was my alleged "wedding planner". Ugh. Okay... don't wanna get myself mad thinking about it again.

Leaving for Laughlin today. Need to pack and clean my room and put all my clothes away. Eek... doing it NOW!!

September 23, 2009

Yayyy!

Very last minute, but I am being flown out to Seattle next weekend to do makeup for a wedding! YAY! I'm so excited! I am also going back the following weekend. I would have just stayed there the entire time, but it would have cost me $100 to change that flight and thats practically another airline ticket already so screw that! Besides, Sam is already sad that I was leaving him for a weekend and now he's even more down that I'm leaving two weekends in a row! Poor Baby! As I said... before while doing the long distance relationship, I would miss him, yes. But now, I miss him when he goes to freakin' work and get really happy when he comes home! I'm an idiot.

Sam made plans to bring me to an Angels game the same day and time I'm meeting with another client. I'm hoping I can change the time with her but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I should really be packing for Laughlin, huh? Maybe tomorrow... or even Friday morning?

I love being taken care of. I've been sick and coughing and Sam's really good at making sure I take my medicine. Overall, I love my married life!! <3

Cooking Fun!

I love learning new things! Wait... let me rephrase that... I love learning new recipes!

I love having my own kitchen and being able to get buck wild in there by myself! HAHA... that didn't sound right, but you know what I mean!?! I love how everything is in place where I would like for it to be and I know where everything is. AND... no one puts it in the wrong place or just leaves it hangin' around. Sam's pretty good at cleaning up after himself in the kitchen (thank goodness).

I don't know if I am loving or hating the fact that I am turning into a real wife! I mean... I know that I'm a wife, but doing all these stereotypical wifey tasks was something that I didn't think I'd really adapt to, but I am. I like knowing that I am taking care of someone... especially of someone that I love. :)

Mike is in town and we are probably going to meet up tonight for dinner since he wants to meet my Hubby. He asked me last night (while Sam was next to me) if my Husband's the crazy jealous type. Sam said, "No, but my gun is". Haha... he's psycho! I was hoping that Judy would be down here too, but she's not. :( They live in SF and couldn't make it down to my wedding due to schedule constraints. To be honest, the less friends I had at my LB wedding, the better. If you saw my hair and makeup that was "professionally" done by the dimwit, you would agree with me. I mean... I ended up having a great time with the friends and family that were there. BUT... I just feel like it could have been a lot better if I was a happier (and prettier) Bride. Oh well... done and over with, right?

Job searching is sooooooooooooo frustrating. Ugh! I am really starting to think that working for someone else isn't in my future. HAHA... okay thats definitely a bit too ambitious of a statement to make at the moment, but I can dream, right? I'm taking some time to sit back and brainstorm of all the possibilities and paths that I can follow. I need to put all my ideas and plans in writing and in my words, "do the damn thang"!

It looks like Sam and I wouldn't be able to go on the Laughlin trip with the gang this year. Sam's schedule is a bit crazy and there's really nothing he can do at the moment to change it. Thank goodness he's not working nights anymore though... I would drive myself nuts! He doesn't even know if he can make it to my Family Reunion in November! :( Its okay though... I know he's doing so much for us and OUR Family. When I say our Family, I mean just him and I. Its nice. :) I miss hanging out with our friends though. We should definitely set a date to just hang out like old times... but its just hard because everyone's so busy (except for me... haha).

I still haven't gone through all of our wedding pictures yet! I've posted some on my KC page, but there are literally thousands of pictures that I need to go through. Its overwhelming. I should really get on that so that I can choose the ones for our photobooks and get some printed and enlarged for our place. Our walls are still so bare... its sad. BUT... it is starting to get crowded with all the furniture and knick knacks that I keep buying. I briefly went through some of the pictures and already with that, I had 1,048 pictures printed for my Parents. I didn't even see them because I had them mailed straight home. Now my Mom is nagging me to print more for her because friends and family came over and took all THEIR pictures. Dammit! I know that I should, but MAN! With shipping and all, I already spent about $140 on those pictures... and thats not even half of it. And now they want MORE!?! Holy cow... if only the pictures grew on trees! Wait... does that make sense? Oh well!

For anyone who hasn't seen them, here's our slideshow from our Washington wedding: http://lokinthemoment.com/mikal/ThydaSam/

The pictures from the Long Beach wedding are ready... we just need to go choose them. I don't know how we are going to choose only 100 photos when I think I am going to want ALL of them. No matter how ugly I looked, I would still like the memories... especially the pictures of my friends and family. Even at $1.50 for each additional photo... I have a feeling I'm going to want hundreds of extras on top of the 100. The photographer took a lot of photos that night (I had my eye on him... hehe). I am thinking of just having Sam and his Mom go choose the pictures because I really can't decide. Okay no... bad idea. o_O

Sam just texted me to thank me for the breakfast sandwich and it was really yummy. YAY! He's cute. This morning, he stopped me to thank me for all that I've done and tell me that he appreciates me. He never fails to thank me for all the little things, but it just doesn't get old and its nice to know that your efforts are noticed and appreciated. It makes me want to do MORE. Okay... I shouldn't tell him that.

Tomorrow is Jackie's birthday. Sovina and I are on a mission to bake her a cake! BUT... I think cupcakes would be more fun! Plus... we wouldn't have to worry about plates and forks and a knife and all that junk. I'm excited! Sovina's never baked a cake before... and I am trying to remember if I have ever done it alone before. HAHA! She and I are so not good for each other. The other day, we ended up looking for each other... at two totally different stores! We're not airheads... we just get so excited that we forget to mention the important details like to specify which Target! Seriously, we were so confused because we were texting and check this out....

Sovina: i ran inside 2 go use the rr, be out in 3 mins! :)
Thyda: Lol kay! I'm inside too now. :D
Sovina: did we miss each other or something because i just walked out
Thyda: oh sorry! i didn't pay attention. looking at hangers in the cute dollar section!
Sovina: i was just in the hanger aisle, u playing hide n go seek?
Thyda: ohhhh! i'm not in the aisle, i'm in the front area. k lemme go find u!
Thyda: in hangers aisle... i don't see you!
Sovina: i'm right here!

DUDE. Thats when I HAD to call her and realized that we both can't be in the hangers aisle and miss each other. Lightbulb moment and asked her which one she was at and BOOM! Two totally different Targets! HAHAHA! Horrible! AND... when we were together in Vegas (the other girls were sleeping in and we walked the strip), we both got suckered into giving this guy $20 each! Two gullible girls should not be alone together... especially when strangers asking for money are involved! Now... how are we going to bake Jackie's cake with just the two of us? I'll keep you posted! ;) Have a date with her tonight to find our outfits for the party! Our boys (Sam and Jordan) are both stressin' because they don't know what to wear to a cocktail party. Haha... sucks for them! Sam's giving up a Poker Friday to hang out with me at my friend's birthday party! YAY! You don't understand... giving up a Poker Friday night is a big deal to me! LOL!

Alright... no more foolin' around on my blog or Facebook... time to get some things done! I told myself I was going back to sleep after Sam left, but that never happens! Ugh. He'll be back at 4pm and thats my date with Sovi. I am going to try to get us to go to bed early from now on. Last night falling asleep at nearly 2am and waking up at 6:30am is NOT cutting it! Sign of old age: love for sleep grew stronger!

Here I Go...

Its been awhile since I really posted an actual post, huh? Well, my life had been crazy for the past... almost a whole month. I failed to blog because there is just so much that I want to say, but I know that I wouldn't have enough time or enough words to describe my life in full. Usually, I like writing but at the moment, I'd much rather sit down and have a heart to heart with the people who are closest to me. With that said, I'll try my best to summarize and though it is a challenge for me to do so, I will try to keep it short.

Now... where shall I start?

I got married! Yes, I definitely panicked and stressed before the actual day... I even cried a few times! BUT... when it came to the day(s), it was such a smooth ride. I honestly thought that I'd be Bridezilla, but one of my bridesmaids pointed out, "Wow, Thyda... you're really chill and you are nowhere close to being Bridezilla". Thank goodness! I really owe everything to my Family and my close friends. My FAMILY... oh my gosh... words can not describe how grateful I am for them. They did not let me worry about a single thing and on top of taking care of everything that needed to be, they made sure that I was relaxed and enjoying myself. If I needed something, they were there for me without even making me ask them twice. My siblings and I have a lot of unspoken love for each other... they are absolutely amazing! My friends... wow... they were by my side through it all. I honestly let a lot of things slip through my fingers because honestly, I am not a planner and am the least organized person I know. OH... and I'm a HUGE procrastinator... so you can just imagine. My friends were there to pick up everything I let slip and again, not let me worry about anything. The day of my wedding was the day that I realized how blessed I am with the greatest people in my life... my Family, friends, and my new Husband. :)

The day(s) were filled with so many tears. Everyone who knows me know that I'm a Baby... a cry baby that is! Being the youngest in the family, my siblings always felt that they needed to take care of me... which they did. Throughout the wedding, we were blessed over and over and I can't help but feel that each one of their blessings also felt like a Goodbye. We all know that I'll be moving after the wedding and though I am glad to be starting my life with my Husband, I can't help but feel the sadness I do when I think about being so far away from my Family. My Family loves me... so much. Everyone who was at the wedding ceremony can see that. They cried... I cried... both tears of joy and tears of sadness to know that we will be further apart. :( I am choking up thinking about it all again. Maybe I'll get into more details about that later. Oh... and the only thing that really upset me was the fact that I didn't try on my dress before the wedding so when I put it on and ready to go, the top was falling off and someone had to sew it in for me right away... within ten minutes! So... my dress ended up not looking the way I had wanted it to, but thats okay... I'll live.

To me, my wedding was PERFECT. It was more than I expected it to be and its unfortunate that it all felt like a blur to me... more like a dream!

Many of you may already know... but the day that everyone left to go back home, my Mom grew sick that night. To the point where my Sister and I had to rush her to the emergency room at 4am. It was a painful process and I have never felt so numb in my life. By the time we got to the hospital, my Mom stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating. Right when they said, "we don't have a pulse", I nearly collapsed. It was a moment that I don't like to think about... but it still haunts me every single day. We were told that they weren't sure she was going to make it... and my heart dropped. That was the moment that I felt like I couldn't go on with my own life... it was hard for me to breathe myself. The rest of my family got there... and we were in each others' arms... and making sure that my Dad was okay. Finally, they came and let us know that they performed CPR and got her heart beating again, but she wasn't breathing and was on life support. She was at risk of brain damages if she was going to make it, so they had to wrap her in sheets of ice to keep her core temperature cool. My Mother was in a coma... at that point we didn't know if she was going to make it, but we were hopeful. The sight of my Mom basically freezing with a huge tube down her throat and unconscious broke my heart. I knew that she was sick because of the stress she had been under and because of all the work that she had done for me for MY wedding. My Mom doesn't complain when she's sick and she especially didn't even make a moan this time because she constantly said that there is no way she is going to be sick on her baby's wedding day... no way. Many things happened during those days that she was in the intensive care unit, but as I said, I'd rather sit down and have a heart to heart with those closest to me. Finally after about 3 days, my Mom attempted to open her eyes while holding mine and my Sister's hands. It was a miracle... the feeling is indescribable. She continued to stay in the intensive care unit for another 3 or 4 days until they were able to take off the ventilator. She still had difficulty breathing, but my Mom was a fighter and she told me that she was going to be strong for me. She wasn't able to speak yet... not even cough because of all the blisters caused by the ventilator. My poor Mom... I can only imagine all the pain she felt. I'd have to excuse myself and hide and cry outside her room many times because again, it was hard to see my Mother in that state. She experienced some memory loss, but one of the first things she asked was, "Did I make it to my daughter's wedding?". She didn't remember the wedding, but it slowly came back to her later. The doctors predicted that she would have to stay at the hospital for at least another two weeks. Thankfully, my Mom recovered sooner than anyone had ever expected. How? Because she is a strong woman and a fighter... there's nothing she can't overcome. She's amazing!

It took her a few more days to be able to walk slowly by herself. After being hospitalized for nearly two weeks altogether, she was discharged. Though she came back home, it took her awhile to do things by herself again. I felt blessed to be able to bathe for my Mom and hold her hand through tough times... letting her know that I will always be there for her. My Sisters flew back from CA right away and so did my nieces and nephews... and so did Sam. The nurses and doctors said that they felt the warmth and love of our family and told us that we were lucky. Yes... we are lucky.

On top of everything, I still had another wedding reception to worry about. To be honest, I was on the verge of cancelling it. BUT... there was no way that my Mom would let me. Sam took care of everything... he's the best.

You can imagine how torn I felt at the time. I know that I agreed to move down to CA after I get married, but with my Mom being this sick, I had to rethink my decision. Even so, my Mom told me that she would not be able to live with herself if I was to stay back in WA with her because she does not want to hold me back from my life and my future. I tried to tell her not to look at it that way, but she got emotional and told me that I have to move on and live my life and she promised that she would be fine. Of all my siblings, my oldest Sister and I are the only two who have never really lived far from my Parents. For me, its because as I said, I'm a Baby and I need to be with my Parents most of the time. I feel so guilty for leaving them now, but they wouldn't allow me to stay back. I'm torn. Now, my plan is to move my Parents with me to CA within the next year or two. Wish me luck.

Tomorrow... or shall I say, today... I will be making the big move. I can't sleep. There is so much on my mind and this is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Also, its my nephew Justin's birthday. I feel so guilty for leaving him on this day... he's like my son to me. He told me today that he was going to miss me... and my tears just started to roll and I couldn't stop it. It came even more when my precious nephew tried to wipe away my tears. He then told me not to cry because he's visiting soon. Which is true! My family is going only a few days after me, but even so, its hard.

There are still so many things that I need to get done... even when I leave in the morning. I asked my Parents to still keep my room for me because I'll be back (duh!)... and they said of course! I had a going away dinner with the ladies on Monday and happy hour with the girls last night. Gosh... I love all of them. Thank goodness for great girlfriends who are more than willing to sit there to listen to me b*tch for hours and also give me a hug when I need it most. As I said, I've been blessed.

I haven't seen the new place yet, but apparently, its only a couple blocks away from the beach... so I'm excited. Sam hasn't given me too many details because he said that its a surprise... LOL! He's been so patient with me through everything... definitely the best Husband I could ever ask for. :)

Okay... time to go to bed. Its 5:30am... I might as well not sleep, huh? Oh well... maybe I can get a few minutes in. Goodnight... Good Morning.

Counting Down..

I finally have a few minutes to do a really quick update. Finally.

As many of you may already know, my wedding ceremony will be starting in only 3 days. Heck... less than three days. I still have a whole lot of things to take care of. For the past week, I haven't been getting very much rest. I can't seem to fall asleep with the wedding on my mind. I honestly didn't think that I would panic like this... but wedding planning is not really meant for procrastinators like myself. These past couple months, I have learned to no longer procrastinate (wait... what the heck am I still doing blogging when I still have a million things to do?).

This past weekend was my friends' Teri and Narith's wedding. I was honored to be part of the wedding as a friend, a makeup artist, a venting outlet for the Bride, and an observer. You learn more about people during times of stress by seeing how they handle certain situations. Luckily for me, I have learned to admire both Teri and Narith much more. I admit... Teri and I never really hung out on a regular basis, but I am glad that she and I are able to come together and share some of our most personal thoughts and feelings with one another. Best of all, I learned a lot from her! I am trying my best to be as calm and cool as I can... because thats exactly how she was.

I am trying to be a more organized individual and trying my best to learn how to not let ANYTHING slip through the cracks. Holy sh*t... is this what it means to grow? I don't know. We'll see.

The wedding itself was BEAUTIFUL! As expected, I cried many times. Such a sweet couple... Narith even surprised Teri and sang a song to her at the reception... she was SHOCKED! He sang, "Everytime I Close My Eyes"... I used to always think that'd be my wedding song. Its still perfect... love that song! I really wish that I was walking down an aisle... like have a western ceremony. Ahhh... maybe next lifetime. And when I do walk down the aisle, the song, "From This Moment" will play as I do. It would be PERFECT. I'm starting to get teary eyed imagining it... knowing that it won't happen. Oh well!

So... I have to get back to my million things on my to do list. Wish me luck on my wedding day... send me happy thoughts. Thank goodness for lots of friends and family who were here for me through it all. Love you guys!

Leaving... AGAIN.

Oh man... what a fun filled weekend it had been! Lets see...

Wednesday - EARLY flight to LB. The Man sitting next to me was telling me how he was coming down to LB for a Square Dance Convention. How interesting! So yeah... didn't get to sleep on the plane as I had planned. My nephew picked me up and I hung out with my nieces and nephews for a bit at my Sister's house. Clogged the toilet and everything! TMI... sorry... but true story! Sam picked me up with a rose on my seat in the car. How cute and sweet he can be sometimes. Keyword: SOMETIMES. We were able to check out some houses that I had seen online. Many didn't appeal to me so much, but it was okay. I guess I can't really hope or want too much with a budget like ours and only one source of income at the moment. Oops! Sweetie Sam (he was so on a roll that day for a minute) brought me to Yogurtland but surprisingly, I wasn't feelin' it and ended up not getting anything. Instead, Cha for Tea's popcorn chicken was pretty good... but nothing compared to Guppy's!

Thursday - Dropped Sam off at work and pretty much chilled out the whole day with his Mom. Finally picked Sam up (I love his schedule, BTW) and helped myself to a French sandwich. Yumm! I can't wait to live off those things when I move down here! HAHA jk! Then, Sam went to go drop off his passport stuff and as I was waiting in the car, I heard that MJ had passed and I couldn't help but get cold chills. I was shocked and for some reason, I saw him as a twenty something year old talented Man. I never realized he was already 50! RIP MJ and Farrah Fawcett.

We tried to take a power nap, but I was too excited for Mai Tai. Sam was meeting up with his coworkers for a drink at Mai Tai, but I insisted we go earlier for the Hang Ten happy hour thingy where there are actually specials on food. Oh man... we ate A LOT! I remember when Sam gave this waitress there a twenty something dollar tip for an eighteen dollar bill. WTF. She wasn't even THAT cute! To his defense, he was drunk. WHATEVS!! LOL! Anyway... I thought we were meeting up with a few coworkers... little did I know that we were meeting up with 30 or 40 something people. I had lots of fun though. His coworkers are kind of crazy... which I like. Totally my kind of people! :D Supposedly, Sam got approval for our marriage after some of them met me. WTF. I almost asked them who the hell they thought they were where Sam needs THEIR approval. HAHA jk... totally kidding! They're cool.

Friday - We got to sleep in until like... noon! Sam didn't have to work (yay!)... but as soon as we woke up, we took care of business. Not like that, you perverts!! We went to go book our photographer for our LB wedding reception. I admit... I did not like the guy nor his work, but f*ck it. I will hold my tongue and bite my lip... and keep the bitch in me inside. Ugh. Oh well. I'll just try my best to get ALL the good shots with Lok In The Moment at the wedding in Seattle. I know I wouldn't be disappointed there. We also got Sam's and his brothers' pants hemmed... which should have been done a long time ago, but whatever. We then met up with the rest of the gang for some Korean BBQ. Yummmm! Originally supposed to go try Shabu Shabu since the Long's were ravin' about it, but it was too late and we were all too hungry to wait for the drive out there. The waiter at the Korean BBQ place probably hated us and when we were done, he said, "Finally". LOL! Cracked me up! We then called it a night because it was late and everyone was all too tired and we had to get up bright and early for the Mac <3 Hui wedding the next day.

Saturday - WEDDING Dayyyyy!! Mac and Sivhui looked GREAT and their wedding ceremony went really well! I loved how it somewhat looked like they were on a stage and the space was plenty. Oh... so Mac sent Sivhui a text message that morning and she told us about it. Of course, our nosey butts wanted to read it too, so she showed it to us. Paline, Lily, Lyna, and I couldn't make it past the fourth word in the message without starting to cry. WTF. We stopped at, "No matter what happens..." because we couldn't take it anymore. WHY are we so sappy and such babies? Haha! We finally made it through the entire message... but it was so hard not to cry. Sivhui cried again! LOL... it was cute and so sweet. Mac is officially the sweetest guy out of the group and Sam still has a lot of work to do. And I mean a lot! HAHA... jk... but not really kidding. Too bad we missed the breakfast slightly (Sam's fault... I swear), but we surely didn't miss out on the lunch! We sat at the table closest to the food (of course) and our hungry asses... we didn't even wait for all the food to come out yet before serving ourselves. The food was delish and I was somewhat in pain after eating because I ate THAT much. Oh man!

I managed to make it to the mall by myself while Sam took a nap after the ceremony looking for a dress and maybe some shoes. I ended up buying some shoes... but they weren't for the wedding (oops). Couldn't find a dress that I was too crazy about, so I ended up wearing a dress I already had. Got home about 2 minutes before the Lok's got there. Darn them for always being on time. We need to learn a thing or two from them. Mikal was smart and picked up some chicken sandwiches for us while we waited for the Long's to get there. Luckily we all ate some of it because the food wasn't served until much later. I would have been an angry camper at the reception if it wasn't for that sandwich! The wedding was beautiful! The couple was beautiful! Ahhh... it was perfect! We all went a little camera crazy... but it was fun. I can't wait to see all of the pictures! Mac made us cry again when he sang to Sivhui while they danced. Damn... where does he learn all the sweetness from? Overall, it was a great wedding and we all had so much fun! Congratulations to the beautiful couple! We predict that they will have a honeymoon baby because every family member of theirs who recently got married has a honeymoon baby! Hehe... I can't wait! Stayed up until nearly 3am just chatting with Thep and Samorn. Ahhh... I love them! :)

Sunday - CJ invited Sam to play a game with his team. I know that Sam missed playing so he just HAD to go. I didn't mind it so much... I actually enjoyed watching the game (surprisingly). They won (yahhhhh!). Then, we went out to lunch where I choked on a duck bone and Sam made me realize that I don't chew my food. LOL. I'm such a dumbass for that. From now on, I will try my best to chew my food! Then, we ran a few errands and picked up some things for the wedding. Most importantly, we picked up my wedding gown. I'm not so crazy about the overpriced (IMO) French lace, but oh well. Other than that, I love it... and Sam loves it! He didn't see me in it (he's more superstitious than I when it comes to this), but he still loved it... which made me really happy! :) Came home and Sam and I worked on our CA wedding invitations together. It was fun! He was so good at it too! I wish he would have been able to help me with the WA ones and be there to help me with favors and other little DIY projects that I need to finish. Oh well... when we live together, we'll work on little projects together often. Or so I hope!

My Sister invited us over to hers and her boyfriend's place in Costa Mesa for a little BBQ. Yummmmm! Good food and I think I ate too much because I knocked out the entire drive home and knocked out right away in my jeans and contacts and everything when we got home. LOL!

Monday - Killing time and waiting for Sam to get off work so I can go bye bye back home. Oh sh*t... I think my laundry is done! Toodle loo!

How Well Do You Know Thyda?

Oh my gosh... I gave in and jumped on the bandwagon by creating a quiz to test my friends. LOL... I admit that some of the questions were pretty tricky, but they were all true! I love reading my friends' answers.... it freakin' cracks me up because it sort of shows me what they think of me. HAHA!

So far, no one scored 100%... not even close! They all would have failed but as I said, it was sort of hard. I made Sam take the quiz although he doesn't have a FB. He got 68% and surprisingly, he's in the lead! Well some of the questions, he got right only because he HAS to know. Honestly, I think he would have failed miserably if he didn't know some of those answers by default. Its so fun!! I think one of these days, I'm going to go back and take all my friends' quizzes... just because its fun! :D

House shopping is not as fun when I'm not there, so I might just have to fly back ASAP after my Uncle's memorial and my Bridal Shower this weekend. I must say that California has some weird street names. Seems like most of them were named after some type of food... fruits and veggies to be exact! LOL

I received Teri and Narith's wedding invitation the other day... it was so cute! I bet they spent lots of $$ and so much time on them because they were freakin' adorable! Looking forward to their wedding too! OH... and Sivhui and Maccara's wedding.... WHAT to wear? Ahhh... I love weddings... just not my own! :P

Pocket full of Sunshine!

Its going to be NICE for the rest of the week and into the weekend here at home. (Gosh... I love home!) Going to do some yardwork today and get our backyard ready for the big day. I'm so ready to sweat!

Its been awhile since I seen the girls. Happy Hour tonight and I need to get them their invitations... long overdue! I miss them. Its hitting me that I won't be a Washingtonian in only a month and few days... how am I gonna do this? Ahhh... I wish I had more time. :(

ALSO... need to go get the alcohol today. I posted something on the Sam and Thyda blog... inputs please! :)

No Place Like Home...

Its so great to be back at HOME! No matter where I move, this will always be my home! :)

Miss Sandy picked me up at the airport yesterday and even venting to her about the wedding planning got me a bit emotional. I realized I should have just hired Sandy to be my planner... seriously. I guess the hardest part about the planning is the decision making of everything. I am very indecisive and can't make decisions for sh*t. I need someone to just tell me that I'm getting and thats it. Another toughy is the $$$. It would be a different story if I was planning for a slightly smaller wedding (say... 200-250 guests) but it gets really ugly when planning for 500 guests (and that doesn't even include the second reception). Because of the extensive guest list, we may have to go cheap on a few things... but we'll see.

Meeting with my florist this weekend and we'll see what we can work with. I'm not too particular about the flowers that I want because I'm just not big on flowers in general, but I do want it to look pretty.

Still gotta pick out my cake and also pick out my Khmer outfits.

I guess I'm in a time crunch and everything pretty much needs to get done within the next two weeks before I go back to Cali because the weekend after that, I'm leaving to Cancun. When I get back, its Teri's wedding and then its only 6 days before my own.

As you can see... this is where I start to panic.

(I guess this should have been posted in my Sam & Thyda blog, huh?)

Procrastination

So I'm supposed to be packing up to go back home but I decided to mess around online for a bit. Let me just do a quick post. BLAH.

-Sivhui's Bridal Shower yesterday was cool. I went with Paline and Lily and we didn't get to stay the entire time because Paline had a birthday party to go to. Lily had a graduation to go to. And I had a wedding to go too. What are the chances of all that happenin' in one day? I ate too much food for my own good and that didn't even include the cake because we had to roll out early! LOL! I had fun though!

-The wedding last night was fun. I think I met all of Sam's Parents' friends and I can't seem to keep up with who is who. It was PACKED and I guess they had to add about 10 tables, but I barely noticed. The Bride and Groom sang a Khmer duet together... it was so cute. I asked Sam if he wants to sing with me on our wedding and he pretty much told me hell no. LOL. Its okay... he's monotone anyways! o_O I'll just sing all by myself! "Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone....!!!" The Bride and Groom seemed like they had a lot of fun and the Bride was so sweet! I don't even know her, but she gave me a hug! Awww... I felt so special! I also finally met Rocky's girlfriend... she's so cute! For some reason, I thought he was pulling my leg when he told me that she was there so I had to text Narin in GA to confirm. She told me she was there, but I called BS on her too. I felt so stupid. Oh well! Pictures coming soon... maybe!

-I think I'm hitting my wedding planning stress mode. I even cried the other day... WTF?

-Parents are probably mad at me for staying in CA for so long when I have so much sh*t to do at home. I think I'm going to get a good ass whoopin' when I get home! LOL. Almost 25 years old and anticipating an ass whoopin' from her parents. I am SO lame!

-I'll be back in CA in 2 and a half weeks. Decided I'm not going to bring any of my things back home since I'll be back anyways and don't feel like paying for my check ins.

-Job hunting... sucks!

-My wedding is in about 6 weeks. WTF. I think I'm gonna cry.

Just Sew You Know...

After visiting all the Khmer tailor shops in Long Beach with my Mom and Sister... I really wish I knew how to sew. My life would be so much easier (I'd think). LOL! I wonder if there's a way to learn how to sew on YouTube! I mean... you can pretty much learn how to do everything else on YouTube... why not sew?

I'm so excited to get my dress next month. French (beaded) lace at $100 a yard? Yeah... this shit better be worth it!! (I know that paying $100 a yard for some fabric seems a bit extreme, but its so pretty! :D)

Back...!

So I'm back at home and FINALLY got the laptop goin' again! I don't know how I survived without the internet for so long! Thank goodness for my Facebook updates sent to my phone, or else I don't think I would still be alive right now. HAHA jk!

My trip to California was okay... I didn't get to see any friends with the exception of Rocky going to the mall with my nieces and I at one point. He doesn't count. LOL!

Relatives' wedding was... ehhhh... okay. I liked my dress, but camera was DEAD. How lame! I managed to snap a shot of myself with my phone for Sam though (and for Facebook, of course! LOL)

Can you believe they still leave the heads on the quails down there? OMG! I guess its normal for them, but I like my quails headless when they're on my plate. Sort of disturbing, but that little leg thats missing in this picture was pretty tasty! LOL

My Parents got to hang out with Sam's Parents quite a bit. His Mom and my Mom did some shopping together and oh my gosh... should have seen them in action! HAHA! We had dinner together 4 nights out of the 7 nights we were there, so it wasn't so bad. :)

My Mom did a whole lot of shopping... and I mean a LOT! She also got six different Khmer outfits made there for my wedding... SIX! WTF! I think she'll be changing more often than the Bride will be! I got a dress made there too... I can't wait for it! So excited!

I say that this trip was OKAY because I didn't have my own schedule and I was practically there to act as a chauffer to everyone. Ugh. I threw a few fits here and there... but overall, I was glad to spend as much time as I did with my family. My nieces, nephews, and I bonded... and we learned more about each other than we really needed to learn. HAHA!

I get to go see my Honey in exactly 7 days. OMG... I didn't even unpack yet and he's bugging me about packing and getting mad at me because I haven't packed yet. He thinks I'm not looking forward to seeing him, but lets let him think that for now!

Invitations... going out soon! Definitely need to compile all my addresses! :D

Ahhhh... so glad to be sleeping back in my own bed.

So much to do and such little time. Oh my!

I've been BAD...

This is one of the reasons why I hate being sick. I fall out of routine and then I do things that I probably wouldn't do if I was well.

For the past four days, I have been doing nothing but eating, eating, eating. I figured that throwing up the first day of getting sick would make up for it, but it hasn't. I'm horrible. I know that I shouldn't be so obsessed... but my WEDDING day is just around the corner and I am still ogre status. My stomach sticks out more than my boobs... and its not a pretty sight. What makes it worse is that I've been menstrual and like most girls, all I want is chocolates, sweets, chocolates, and sweets. FUCK!!! And to rub salt into the wound, I haven't moved my body out of bed enough to burn even the calories from a stick of sugar free gum! This is depressing thinking about what I've done the past four days. If I could do it over, I'd do it differently. I would only have three pieces of my nephew's birthday cake rather than four. LOL!

I get to see Sam again in 20 days... TWENTY!! I'm so excited! I get butterflies at the thought of it. No matter how bad my day had been or how upset I am with something, I forget about most of it (if not all) whenever I get to talk to him. Sure, I naturally have poor memory, but you know what I mean! Its crazy how I still go ga ga over him like a little school girl! Eeeek! I know I'm such a dork, but I can't even explain how I feel. Even when I call him with the intention of being angry or upset with him for something, it all goes away once he starts talkin'. He's so freakin' adorable! I really am lucky... ahhhhhh!!! I love hearing his monotone voice. HAHA!

Heading down to California with my Parents in a few days. Not sure if I'm really looking forward to it because I know that I'll be spending most of the time running errands. I'm nervous for my Parents and Sam's to meet... but I know that they'd get along great because they're all great people. Don't know if I'm really looking forward to the relatives' wedding because to be honest... I don't really know them. I'm just looking forward to shopping with my nieces (gotta find their dresses for my wedding) and hanging out with them. Its amazing how grown up they all are... sort of scary, actually. My oldest nephew is 19 years old... he was born when I was only five! What I love though is that they still have the respect and call me "E-Thyda"... no matter where we are or who we're with. :D

Okay... going to bed and hoping that I wouldn't have any weird or scary dreams tonight. I hate when I have weird dreams like that... scares the shit outta me! Ahhhh!

Goodnight... sweet dreams of me! ;)

In Love...

I was flipping through a Bridal magazine this morning and I saw MY dress. Hehe... its so pretty!! Now, I gotta shed a couple pounds so that it will look better on. Ahhhh....!

Yesterday was my cousin's 21st birthday. Oh my! We should have celebrated on Saturday, but he wouldn't have been 21 yet so it wouldn't have been the same. Gathering with the adults... they are so funny! Practicing dancing for my wedding! HAHAHA! One of our older cousins got a few bottles of Remy Martin and let me just say that that sh*t is nasty. I'll stick with the cheap stuff. The adults in our family don't drink, so it was really up to us. Its weird... I'm drinking around my parents, aunts, and uncles... and its okay! HA! I was messing with my cousin and pretended to tattle on him to his parents that he was drinking and they were like, "Its okay... he's 21 now". LOL... dammit! My trouble maker self lost my touch! We toasted to the family and I honestly suck at giving toasts. I said it in English and got yelled at to give my cousin his blessings in Khmer. WTF. What the hell am I supposed to say? I love the "kid", but I don't know how to freakin' bless him in Khmer. AND... he understands English, so whatever. The cake that his girlfriend bought was soooooooooo good! Too bad I freakin' dropped it and then my Dad said that its spirits asking for some (thats why I dropped it), so I have to give it to them. Sort of creeped me out because I drop stuff ALL the time! Oh well... I got a new piece and devoured it! LOL!

Saturday was fun day with Jenn and we had such an amazing time! I love that girl! :D

Okay... I am HUNGRY! Diet starts tomorrow (doesn't it always start "TOMORROW"?)!!

April 26, 2009

Wonderful Day!

I had SUCH an amazing day yesterday. It really was MY day!

- Hung out with my two best friends
- Found MY perfect dress! :D
- Had a drink (or two)
- Had AMAZING sushi
- Pleased with my reception location renovation
- Had my Starbucks fix (first time in couple weeks, so it was a big deal)
- Got Sour Belts (favorite candy)

Oh man... too many good times and details that I would love to get into, but its my cousin's 21st birthday and I'd better get going! :D

100 More Days...

100 more days until my wedding... WTF!?!

Holy shit... the countdown is going to be in the two digits tomorrow. I am so scared. So much to do... I need to stop procrastinating. Thats FOR SURE!
