I'm So Young and You're So Old!

Okay... here goes my first blog entry at the age of 25. Yikes!

Am I losing my hair? No really... am I losing my hair? I don't mean it metaphorically either... I mean literally... AM I LOSING MY HAIR? Waking up to a few strands of hair on the pillow is fine and its really nothing to really worry about or fuss over. BUT... what if I run my fingers through my hair and although it runs smoothly with no knots or tangles in the way, I find what seems to be a handful between my fingers. Sickening, isn't it? I know that its natural to lose hair as we age and also as we stress... but this is just too much. I used to scare all the hairdressers away as I walk into the door because my hair was just too thick for anyone to like to work on because it takes three times as long as other people's hair. You wouldn't be able to grab ALL of my hair with one hand either... I hated it. I used to wish that my hair was thin and soft like most of my friends' hair. I guess this is one of those times when the good ol' "be careful what you wish for" saying holds truth. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! I know that this all sounds superficial and there are many other concerns in the world, but really... you'd be lying if you said you didn't think twice about your appearance. Moreover, I am starting to wonder if this is a health concern. Or maybe its just paranoia and the thought of getting old and wrinkly and hairless is taking over me? Who knows?

Usually I'd be excited for my birthday. This time around, not so much. I teased all of my friends who are older every now and then, especially the ones who turn 25 not too long before me. I would tell them that its downhill from there and that they are now part of the old farts' club and although their insurance is cheaper, its totally not worth the wrinkles and saggy skin. They'd tell me that I'm getting there too, but I refused to accept it. It hit me the night before my birthday that I really am getting old! I used to look at 22 year olds and think that they were ancient because I believed I would be 16 for the rest of my life and I don't see myself getting any older. Now, I am beyond 22... meaning I am beyond old. You know what that means? That means that I am really really old. (No offense to those reading and older than me) Sam tried to butter me up to the fact that the next day was my birthday, but I was not having it and instead got into tears at the thought of it. I know it sounds stupid and I don't know the true reason why I got so emotional, but I did. I actually applied night cream and anti aging cream on my face because I can already feel like I'm getting OLD. At 11:45pm that night, I went to bed because I wanted to savor a few more hours of being 24. Haha... its silly now that I think about it now. Sam woke me up at midnight to wish me a Happy Birthday... grrr!!

He took that next day off (on my birthday) and brought me out to lunch and then to go get a nice hour long full body massage. It was my first time ever getting a massage from someone I didn't know... and it was an older man! How uncomfortable, but luckily Sam was right next to me getting a massage too. It was nice and relaxing... but I think that Sam does a better job at times... although his massage sessions last no longer than 3 minutes. What a punk! The massage was much needed followed by some good ol' shopping! You know that always makes me feel happy, but at the same time, I questioned myself and wondered if I dress to young for my age since I see teenagers dressing the same way I do often times. BLAH.

He made reservations at this place called The Sky Room in Long Beach and I found out... and made him cancel the reservations! I know that he was just trying to be sweet and bring me to a nice place on my birthday, but I can't justify letting him spend $35 - $50 on a piece of steak that probably doesn't taste too much better than ones he can cook himself... and thats not even including any salads or appetizers that come with it. HELL NO. I told him that I'd be a LOT happier if we just went and got sushi... and we did! Guess how much our bill was! About $30.. and thats for the both of us and we were stuffed and satisfied! I told him that the rest of the money that he would have spent on our meal at The Sky Room can go towards my Yogurtland fund! Call me cheap, but our bill would have easily ran over $100... probably $150 if we order wine at the nice restaurant which I'm sure Sam would have considering the occasion and the nice place. Again, HELL NO. Maybe I am getting more mature... or maybe I just get cheaper and cheaper by the minute? Either way... I'm glad I refused The Sky Room because... do you know how many things I can get with that money? LOL... I really am looking forward to my yogurtland trips to come considering how much we saved!

The guys usually play basketball every Wednesday and since we were nearby with some time to kill, we stopped by the court. They all stopped to say Happy Birthday to me... how sweet! :D I tried to distract them and tease them every chance I got while watching them... and they knew how to push me away. By saying to me, "TEAM JACOB"! Oh heck no... I quit! LOL! Sam couldn't play since he didn't have his clothes and shoes. Thank goodness because it was freezing cold and I was ready to go home. Wait... we HAD to stop at Yogurtland. How could we not? And we did... and Sam and I hung out there for a bit and talked about some of the most random things ever... but it was nice! Then we realized that the Lakers game was on and I knew he wanted to see it... so we came home.

Overall, it was a nice birthday and I know that it was mellowed out, but that is all going to change tomorrow! I'm so excited for my birthday dinner with some of my coolest friends... and then of course, my cocktail party!! We'll see how it goes because it will be the first one we're throwing... or Sam is throwing for me! :D Did I mention that my best friend Jenn is flying down here with her fiance? Yup... they get in at... well... they'll be here in about 13 hours! I'm so excited and can't wait to see them! We'll do some celebrating tonight after we pick them up at the airport... then its all up in the air from there! Whatever we do, I just know we're going to have a great time! She called me early that morning to sing to me... and she said she practiced for an hour! HAHA... its this thing that we usually do to each other... more like a competition to see who can sing the ugliest version of that song. Every year, it just gets uglier. I don't know how she's gonna top it next year! Hehe... love her!

Oh... did I mention that it was very nice to wake up to see so many texts and emails and messages... and close to a million Facebook comments!! Okay... not really a million, but I felt like it was pretty close and it did make my day and make me feel special. Of course, most of them only knew because of the Facebook reminders thing, but thats okay because I will admit that I don't remember all my friends' birthdays although I'm trying. Sometimes, its just a simple and easy gesture that can really make a difference. My friends are awesome... and that includes my Facebook ones! Haha!

I guess nothing has changed when it comes to my writing even though I am "older". Some things just don't change, I guess! Ranns told me that I will always be a kid at heart and thats what makes me special and thats what people love about me. She's sweet for saying it... I only hope that its true. Let me know if that changes, kay?

More to come later... but I really need to get some things done for my weekend. The list is longer than the neck of a giraffe and I have yet to cross anything off as FINISHED on that list. Ugh.

I HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO SAY THOUGH... DAMMIT!

By the way... there will be some changes coming soon and something to look forward to by next weekend. With too many things going on and so many projects I want to accomplish, I find myself spreading myself so thin that I can't just get one thing done with all the distractions. After this weekend, its FOCUS time! I've learned a lot these past couple of months and have gained a lot of interest. Where is the time stopper when I need it most?

Anyway... I hope everyone has a great weekend and stay warm out there! I know that its freezing in Washington and its pretty wet here (although rain seemed to stop for now). *hugs*

Photo Updates?

THIS is the TShirt that I got and have already worn it to bed once! :D

Ladies... if you are not going to be in the sun and are going to be indoors or take pictures with flash, please avoid using any SPF. It reflects light and can make you look ghostly pale with the flash. See above.

We are waiting for our dinner... hoping to see some hot sweaty pirates. Okay maybe not.

My sexy dark pirate! LOL! He was such a good sport!

At Mai Tai... what a fun night it was!

We finally had our girls' night... long overdue!! I always have a nice time with them... some of the sweetest, caring, and thoughtful girls you'd ever find! :)

Oh my gosh... our highly anticipated dinner at Guppy's! I couldn't stop thinking about it all week!

If I dazed off in conversations that week, its because I was thinking of this bad boy! It was sooooo yummy! (How do they run out of mangoes???)

Spontaneous Yogurtland Venting Pow Wow last night with Sovi and Yacky! Guess which one was mine!! HAHA... the fullest one, of course!

Why is it that I miss my Husband more now when he works overtime than when I was living a thousand miles away? Ahhh... weird.

Been working on a few new things and trying to organize my life (still). I can't even keep my bedroom in order because I have too much junk and when I am doing one thing, I get distracted and think/do another. Its horrible!

My brain had been stimulated the past few days... its a great, yet painful feeling. Now, I need to exercise my body. There are too many good foods down here and too many dessert joints (Guppy's, Yogurtland) for me to not. Although I must say that I did get asked if I have lost weight. Whoa... ego boost! Utilized my handy dandy Target scale and it looks like I did. Ain't stoppin' me now. I would still like to lose 35 pounds. Is that gross? LOL!

I can't believe its Halloween again already. No way am I spending over $50 on a costume I will wear once. HELL no. Call me cheap, but do you know how many clearance items I can get with that money and for sure I'd wear it more than once? Psssh! Which totally reminds me... need to consult with Sam to see what our plans are. Actually, just sent out an email to our friends. I hope they're up for hanging out with me. HAHA!

Alright... sort of late for my date with the beach. I usually cancel on it, but not today. HAHA!

Thursday Funday!

So to thank us for taking care of them, Sovina and Jordan are taking Sam and I out today. They really don't have to, but they insist. Its a surprise so I have NO idea where we are going. I'm so nervous, yet so excited!

Its nice to have good friends around... especially when you're in a totally different environment. Sivhui and I got to hang out for a bit yesterday and it was nice to just sit down and catch up with her. Oh... and I earned myself a shirt at Yogurtland! How cool is that? :D

I miss my friends back at home. Seeing their emails and pictures and posts make me really sad because I'm not there with them to join in on all the fun that they're having. Can't wait 'til one of them come and visit me soon. I know everyone's busy though... which is a good thing, but I just miss them!

Halloween is next weekend already? Okay... so we were invited to the Lok's party... and then also another party... but we also have some friends who might be coming in from out of town that weekend. WHAT to do? It'd be rude of me to invite them to someone else's place, right? (Just saw it on The City last night where Sami invited these people to Whitney's Ex-Boyfriend's Roommates, BBQ when she was a guest herself who was invited by Whitney) WHO DOES THAT?!?! Haha... it was pretty funny... I was amused.

Okay... lots to do on the agenda before Sam gets home and we get picked up. Hope everyone has a great Hump Day today!

EDIT: Okay... I was gonna edit this, but decided not to and am just going to leave it because it cracks me up! (Check the comments for details... LOL!)

Leaving... AGAIN.

Oh man... what a fun filled weekend it had been! Lets see...

Wednesday - EARLY flight to LB. The Man sitting next to me was telling me how he was coming down to LB for a Square Dance Convention. How interesting! So yeah... didn't get to sleep on the plane as I had planned. My nephew picked me up and I hung out with my nieces and nephews for a bit at my Sister's house. Clogged the toilet and everything! TMI... sorry... but true story! Sam picked me up with a rose on my seat in the car. How cute and sweet he can be sometimes. Keyword: SOMETIMES. We were able to check out some houses that I had seen online. Many didn't appeal to me so much, but it was okay. I guess I can't really hope or want too much with a budget like ours and only one source of income at the moment. Oops! Sweetie Sam (he was so on a roll that day for a minute) brought me to Yogurtland but surprisingly, I wasn't feelin' it and ended up not getting anything. Instead, Cha for Tea's popcorn chicken was pretty good... but nothing compared to Guppy's!

Thursday - Dropped Sam off at work and pretty much chilled out the whole day with his Mom. Finally picked Sam up (I love his schedule, BTW) and helped myself to a French sandwich. Yumm! I can't wait to live off those things when I move down here! HAHA jk! Then, Sam went to go drop off his passport stuff and as I was waiting in the car, I heard that MJ had passed and I couldn't help but get cold chills. I was shocked and for some reason, I saw him as a twenty something year old talented Man. I never realized he was already 50! RIP MJ and Farrah Fawcett.

We tried to take a power nap, but I was too excited for Mai Tai. Sam was meeting up with his coworkers for a drink at Mai Tai, but I insisted we go earlier for the Hang Ten happy hour thingy where there are actually specials on food. Oh man... we ate A LOT! I remember when Sam gave this waitress there a twenty something dollar tip for an eighteen dollar bill. WTF. She wasn't even THAT cute! To his defense, he was drunk. WHATEVS!! LOL! Anyway... I thought we were meeting up with a few coworkers... little did I know that we were meeting up with 30 or 40 something people. I had lots of fun though. His coworkers are kind of crazy... which I like. Totally my kind of people! :D Supposedly, Sam got approval for our marriage after some of them met me. WTF. I almost asked them who the hell they thought they were where Sam needs THEIR approval. HAHA jk... totally kidding! They're cool.

Friday - We got to sleep in until like... noon! Sam didn't have to work (yay!)... but as soon as we woke up, we took care of business. Not like that, you perverts!! We went to go book our photographer for our LB wedding reception. I admit... I did not like the guy nor his work, but f*ck it. I will hold my tongue and bite my lip... and keep the bitch in me inside. Ugh. Oh well. I'll just try my best to get ALL the good shots with Lok In The Moment at the wedding in Seattle. I know I wouldn't be disappointed there. We also got Sam's and his brothers' pants hemmed... which should have been done a long time ago, but whatever. We then met up with the rest of the gang for some Korean BBQ. Yummmm! Originally supposed to go try Shabu Shabu since the Long's were ravin' about it, but it was too late and we were all too hungry to wait for the drive out there. The waiter at the Korean BBQ place probably hated us and when we were done, he said, "Finally". LOL! Cracked me up! We then called it a night because it was late and everyone was all too tired and we had to get up bright and early for the Mac <3 Hui wedding the next day.

Saturday - WEDDING Dayyyyy!! Mac and Sivhui looked GREAT and their wedding ceremony went really well! I loved how it somewhat looked like they were on a stage and the space was plenty. Oh... so Mac sent Sivhui a text message that morning and she told us about it. Of course, our nosey butts wanted to read it too, so she showed it to us. Paline, Lily, Lyna, and I couldn't make it past the fourth word in the message without starting to cry. WTF. We stopped at, "No matter what happens..." because we couldn't take it anymore. WHY are we so sappy and such babies? Haha! We finally made it through the entire message... but it was so hard not to cry. Sivhui cried again! LOL... it was cute and so sweet. Mac is officially the sweetest guy out of the group and Sam still has a lot of work to do. And I mean a lot! HAHA... jk... but not really kidding. Too bad we missed the breakfast slightly (Sam's fault... I swear), but we surely didn't miss out on the lunch! We sat at the table closest to the food (of course) and our hungry asses... we didn't even wait for all the food to come out yet before serving ourselves. The food was delish and I was somewhat in pain after eating because I ate THAT much. Oh man!

I managed to make it to the mall by myself while Sam took a nap after the ceremony looking for a dress and maybe some shoes. I ended up buying some shoes... but they weren't for the wedding (oops). Couldn't find a dress that I was too crazy about, so I ended up wearing a dress I already had. Got home about 2 minutes before the Lok's got there. Darn them for always being on time. We need to learn a thing or two from them. Mikal was smart and picked up some chicken sandwiches for us while we waited for the Long's to get there. Luckily we all ate some of it because the food wasn't served until much later. I would have been an angry camper at the reception if it wasn't for that sandwich! The wedding was beautiful! The couple was beautiful! Ahhh... it was perfect! We all went a little camera crazy... but it was fun. I can't wait to see all of the pictures! Mac made us cry again when he sang to Sivhui while they danced. Damn... where does he learn all the sweetness from? Overall, it was a great wedding and we all had so much fun! Congratulations to the beautiful couple! We predict that they will have a honeymoon baby because every family member of theirs who recently got married has a honeymoon baby! Hehe... I can't wait! Stayed up until nearly 3am just chatting with Thep and Samorn. Ahhh... I love them! :)

Sunday - CJ invited Sam to play a game with his team. I know that Sam missed playing so he just HAD to go. I didn't mind it so much... I actually enjoyed watching the game (surprisingly). They won (yahhhhh!). Then, we went out to lunch where I choked on a duck bone and Sam made me realize that I don't chew my food. LOL. I'm such a dumbass for that. From now on, I will try my best to chew my food! Then, we ran a few errands and picked up some things for the wedding. Most importantly, we picked up my wedding gown. I'm not so crazy about the overpriced (IMO) French lace, but oh well. Other than that, I love it... and Sam loves it! He didn't see me in it (he's more superstitious than I when it comes to this), but he still loved it... which made me really happy! :) Came home and Sam and I worked on our CA wedding invitations together. It was fun! He was so good at it too! I wish he would have been able to help me with the WA ones and be there to help me with favors and other little DIY projects that I need to finish. Oh well... when we live together, we'll work on little projects together often. Or so I hope!

My Sister invited us over to hers and her boyfriend's place in Costa Mesa for a little BBQ. Yummmmm! Good food and I think I ate too much because I knocked out the entire drive home and knocked out right away in my jeans and contacts and everything when we got home. LOL!

Monday - Killing time and waiting for Sam to get off work so I can go bye bye back home. Oh sh*t... I think my laundry is done! Toodle loo!

April 28, 2009

Swoons!!

I'm still swooning over my dress! LOL... okay so it might not be ALL that, but I love it anyway!

I almost gave up on looking for THE dress, but I'm glad I found it!

So... let me share my conversation with Mary this morning regarding the swine flu and our trip--

Mary: I heard that airlines are crediting people back if they booked to Mexico and they're not letting anyone enter Mexico.
Thyda: Hopefully it will be okay by then... if not, where else should we go?
Mary: CABO!
Thyda: Uhmmm... Cabo IS in Mexico!
Mary: Is it? OH...

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! She cracks me up! And what makes it even more funny is that she's the one who did all the booking and arrangements for this trip! HAHA!

Less than 4 weeks and I get to see my Baby again! YAYYYYY! Supposedly, the world sort of stopped when he left. HAHA! I mean... the guys don't even play poker anymore. THATS A BIG DEAL!!!

Leaving for California with my Parents in a week. Oh man... I don't know what happened to all my summer clothes!! Wish I was allowed to shop! Hmph! I miss the feeling of picking up something new and bringing it home like a puppy (except... I don't really like puppies unless they're really really cute. wait... shouldn't that be the same for my clothes? I confuse myself!)

Got that freakin' HALO song stuck in my head. Was singing it yesterday and my nephew asked me which Halo I'm singing about... as in which game edition of Halo. LOL!!

Oh man... I think I'm going to have to sneak away from my Parents (and Sams') for an hour to indulge in some Yogurtland. I've been craving! (There's this place in Southcenter called Tootie Frootie. The selection is less and its 39 cents an ounce rather than 30 cents like at Yogurtland! What a rip off!)

February 5, 2009

:D

Last night after bringing me to Yogurtland (yummm!), Sam and I went shopping for some things that he needs to bring with him to training. Afterwards, we SOMEHOW ended up at the mall. He asked if he can dress me and I told him that if he's buying it, then I'm wearing it. Needless to say, I am very pleased with his choice (and purchases) of some sexy red heels, and two tops. I wonder if he's going to give me the same offer today since we were only there for less than an hour before it closed. *crosses fingers*

Yesterday, Mommy called me and asked to speak to Sam's Mom to ask how much of a pain I've been since my stay. Dude... they were on the phone for almost two hours straight. My phone nearly died and I even missed Sam's calls and texts to pick him up! HAHAHA...
