Thoughtful Thursday - Love... FOUND.

I promise not to be a puppy in love and make every entry about love and about my Husband, but today has to be the day and this entry has to be the entry.

I often have a hard time showing and telling my Husband how much I appreciate him and everything he does.  I guess after seeing the movie, "Why Did I Get Married Too?" made me realize how great of a Husband he had been to me for the past year and couple of months.  (Which by the way, I wrote a short little entry about the movie and how I feel about it here on my other blog Oh Too Much)

He is SUCH a dork... one of the reasons why I love him so much!

People spend so much of their lives searching for the perfect partner and having these high expectations and list of criteria that their prospective partners need to fill.  Let me tell you now that if you have what you call "standards" and think that the other person has to fulfill those standards, then you should probably ask yourself what qualities is it that you have that makes you fulfill the list of criteria that they have?  Does that make sense?  I guess all I am saying is that you shouldn't look at love and a relationship as a one way street where you are the only one with needs and desires.  Take yourself off a pedestal every once in awhile and be present and level with those around you.  If you walk around with your head held too high and your nose in the air, how do you see, smell, and appreciate those that are there and ready to love you?  Keep this up, and you would never find true love... thats the truth.

I remember a line from one of my friends wedding vows "It is not only about finding the right partner, but about BEING the right partner".  - SO TRUE!

We need someone who loves you for who you are and not what you could be.  - Same goes the other way around.

In no way am I saying that you should settle for less.  By that, I don't believe that you should settle for anything less than happiness.

I am blessed to have found my true love at the young age of 20 as a friend.  I am glad I got to know him and built a friendship with him before that friendship blossomed into love and a relationship because I not only have a lover, but I will always have a friend.  Five (going on six) years later, I am happily married to this wonderful man who loves me unconditionally.  He would kiss me in the morning before I can rid the morning breath.  He doesn't mind that I look a mess in the morning (and those who have seen me in the morning can testify) and tolerates my smell if I didn't shower in a day (gross and TMI, I know... but I have my days... haha!).  I never have to wonder where he is or hope that he would come home or wait by the phone waiting for him to call.  I no longer have to go to bed alone at night or wake up wondering where he is or who he is with.  I don't have to eat dinner alone (unless it was planned) and there is no longer a day that goes by when he doesn't remind me that he loves me.  I never go to bed angry or upset... that's a rule that we have and its been working wonderfully...

The list goes on, but we all get the point... I am a lucky woman!

I can tell him all my dreams, wishes, and plans... and he would listen because he is and will be a part of it all.

1 Year Wedding Anniversary

“The Art of a Good Marriage”, by Wilferd Arlan PetersonA good marriage must be created.
In marriage the "little" things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say, ”I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values, and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is forming a circle that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation, and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person -- it is being the right partner."

Exactly one year ago, on this very day... I married the LOVE of my LIFE.

Marriage isn't perfect and if it was, then it would be boring and get old.  We are still learning new things about each other every single day.  There are times when we get upset or a little angry at each other for silly little things, and occasionally, for bigger things.  At the end of every argument and upset, something positive comes out of it.  We gain more understanding of one another and acceptance of each flaw or mistake.  We gain more appreciation for our partner and a reminder of why we love and respect each other the way that we do.  Mort importantly, we learn what love really means.  Words cannot explain the true meaning, but I think I have a pretty good idea of what this little thing we refer to as "love" is.  I can't imagine learning these little things and growing to be a better and wiser person with anyone else other than him.  He makes me a better person, and in him, I see myself, my future, and my love.

"On Friendship" by Roy Croft
I love you, not for what you are, but what I am, when I am with you.
I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but what you are making of me.
I love you for the part of me that you bring out.
I love you for putting your hand into my heaped up heart and passing over all the frivolous and weak things that you cannot help seeing there, and drawing out into the light all the beautiful and radiant things that no one else has looked quite far enough to find.
I love you for ignoring the possibilities of the fool in me, and for
laying hold of the possibilities of good in me.
I love you for closing your eyes to the discords in me, and adding to the music in me by worshipful listening...
You have done it without a touch, without a sign. You have done it by being yourself.

Oh St. Valentine...

I didn't receive flowers this year... only because I told Sam to never buy me flowers again because they will die in a matter of days and if he was to give me that money to shop, I would appreciate and love him so much more. He told me that he was going to... but was afraid that he'd get yelled at. He's so right... smart man who is learning more and more each day. That means... more money going into my shopping fund. Whoo hoo!

This Valentines' Day was the first one that we actually spent together... alone. The last time we spent Valentines' Day together, it was to celebrate a friend's birthday so we didn't really do the typical boyfriend/girlfriend Valentines' Day celebration rituals, but we still had fun. OH... and this is our first Valentines' Day together as a married couple. :)

We were on the verge of not celebrating at all... if it was up to me. I mean... we celebrate love every day, so one day of the year that we are supposed to by society and hallmark's standards was sort of "meh" to me. But then I thought about it again and figured... why not? Valentines' Day used to be one of my favorite holidays when I was younger because it was fun to pass out Valentines' Day cards and candies to classmates and friends. I used to be secretly envious of those who would get flowers and balloons in high school... until I started getting some of my own too. HAHA! Its nice to feel special... even if everyone else in the world is feeling special too. So... why not make someone I love feel special? It couldn't hurt, right?

I won't get into details, but yesterday was just amazing. In Sam's words, it was the best Valentines' Day EVER...! He had to work but wanted to take me out on a nice romantic dinner. It was PERFECT! We got outdoor seating and it was right on the water. To make it even better, our table was as close to the water as you can get... with nobody's head blocking our view. We had yummy wine and talked about lots of things happening... and our future. I felt all giddy inside like it was or first date or something.. I just couldn't stop smiling. We came home to more wine... more sweet talks... and... nevermind. :)

I know I sound like a little school girl in her first puppy love, huh? Oh well! I just logged on Facebook and pulled some of our pictures that were at some point my Profile Picture... (LOL) and compiled them here. This is about to be my new desktop wallpaper.

New Years' Resolution #1

Two more days until the new year and I have yet to come up with any real New Years' Resolutions. I told myself that I wasn't going to make any this year because I never follow through with them and disappoint myself every year. BUT... you have to have a resolution, even if you don't stick to it (unintentionally, of course)... its exciting to have a goal... even just for a day! LOL

I'll have more, but my first one will be...

1. Be nicer to the Husband

Okay I admit... I am a mean girl. I don't know how he does it but I know that if I was my own Husband, I wouldn't be able to handle me. I love him... therefore, I should be nicer, right? I'll try not to be so stubborn and try to be a little bit more patient.

There... I said it! And now, I have to really stick to it! Ahhhh...

MORE to come later! Got some things to work on today. Ciao!

To more good times like these in 2010!!

FMAO!!

FMAO -- Freezing My Ass Off!! (got that from Kelly at People's Revolution... haha!)

I can't believe it can be this cold in California! I spoke to my Mom last night and she told me that it was ridiculously cold up there too. I can tell by the tweets from my still Washingtonian buddies!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Or... its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! I will miss being at home for the holidays this year... but maybe there will be some miracle and we'll end up being up there afterall!

Plans for my birthday are done! Well, for Saturday at least. I'm looking forward to it, but really hope that it all goes well and everyone has a good time. I'm stuck at a weird age where I can't decide if I want to party hardy or mellow out... and this should be the in betweeney! I definitely need to figure out what I'll wear though since I'm making it a point to dress up for everyone. HAHA! I'm going to be really upset if someone doesn't stick to the theme because it can't get any easier than that!

Jenny's birthday is today and she's in Disneyland (lucky her)! I should have just made Sam take the day off as he had planned, but now its probably too late. I wonder where he's bringing me for our date! My birthday gift was a shopping spree... he knew I wouldn't be happier with anything else since we have different taste in almost everything (I'm serious!). I already enjoyed most of my shopping spree... haha... but maybe it will continue tomorrow? *fingers crossed* I almost had to stay home alone last night while he works a 16 hour shift, but thank goodness he didn't have to stay for the full. YAYYYY!

Ever wondered what draws people to making up bizarre stories for no reason? Two girlfriends and I had lunch last week and we just pieced together some of the most crazy stories you'd ever hear from anyone. Why they do it? Well... we came up with a conclusion! It seems that the people who these stories are told to are people like myself... gullible and easily amused! I think people get a kick or a high off of my reaction or something. One of the girls is very much like me (I'm sure most can figure it out) and there's so many situations where we are together and we get told some of the craziest things anyone had ever heard! Don't lie... because then, you're going to have to make up more lies to cover those lies and so on and so forth. Down the road, you're not going to remember what you told because they were all lies lies lies. It took us awhile to figure it all out, but now, we're even more amused at not your stories, but your behavior! *giggles*

Guys... sometimes they just don't understand, do they? Their way of thinking is so different from ours and they just don't get it! Ugh... so frustrating at times but at the end of the day, thats what keeps it interesting. (I guess)

I'm tired of hearing about Tiger Woods... but I am so amused (and still laughing) at the fact that he's not a Tiger, he's a Cheetah... but at least he ain't Lion!! HAHAHA... get it? OMG... I am such a dork for sitting here laughing at this line over and over... and its been weeks since I first heard it. LOL. Cheaters... Liars... WOW.

Everyday I'm Snifflin'...

Yup... you guessed it! I'm sick again! Well, back in WA, I was sneezing like crazy and my nose was starting to do the usual running man. As of yesterday (my first day back in CA), I was officially sick. Its gross. I slept with tissue up my nose just so it wouldn't run all over my pillow (I know you're picturing it now) and slept with my mouth open the whole time... which led to thirst. LOL! So... kept on waking up in the middle of the night.

When we find/buy a house, we are definitely going to need something with parking. This whole driving around the block just to find parking thing is NOT okay. I'm blessed to live by the beach and downtown, but I also don't want my Husband to sit in the car in the cold waiting for someone to move their car just so he can park. We've been here for 3 months now and have gotten at least 5 parking tickets. NOT okay.

Last night, Sam's coworker Ozzie made me realize that we've been married for four months now. Holy cow... thats a third of a year! Amazing! Time reall flies, dude. Even so, I'm falling more and more in love with my Husband. :) And I'm not only saying this because he brought me on a late date after Mai Tai to Guppy Teahouse in Cerritos for my brick toast either! LOL... !!!

Our turkey palooza is coming up... I'm so excited to grub. Num num num num nummmmmm!!!!

Oh... and I got my check from my commercial! YESSS... time to treat myself and the Hubby to something nice. FINALLY. :)

The Good Life!

Did I ever mention how much I am enjoying the married life? Actually... we have our moments, but overall... I'm loving it!

Thank goodness for recipe books! I found one the other day at Borders for 5 bucks and of course, I have my Borders Rewards membership thingy and got 40% off that so after tax, it was like 3 bucks! SCORE!! Tried a recipe out of there that Sam had circled to show me that he wanted to try it and he kept saying how it was good! I'm so proud of myself! Though it is following someone else's recipe, I'm still proud because I actually did the damn thang!

We were on a hunt to find some seaweed last night. I've been wanting to try to make some sushi! Unfortunately, we were out of luck. Well, we went pretty late and most Asian stores were closed. Better luck next time!

I love Target! So many cool things there and for some reason, I never get bored!

I'm trying this new thing... no eating after 8pm. Will be interesting... hard, yes... but I love challenges! We finally got a scale last night! Wuahahah! Its FUN! Often disappointing, but fun regardless.

Tonight, will be whipping up some things for Sovina's birthday tomorrow. Then, I need to figure out what to wear. Party Bus... never been on one so should be interesting!

Last night, I had a glass of wine and knocked out so good. Woke up feeling great. I thought I was drunk in the morning for a minute!

Our place is a mess and I need to really clean it up here. Procrastination is the devil and being easily distracted doesn't help. Who wants to come help me clean up?

September 23, 2009

Yayyy!

Very last minute, but I am being flown out to Seattle next weekend to do makeup for a wedding! YAY! I'm so excited! I am also going back the following weekend. I would have just stayed there the entire time, but it would have cost me $100 to change that flight and thats practically another airline ticket already so screw that! Besides, Sam is already sad that I was leaving him for a weekend and now he's even more down that I'm leaving two weekends in a row! Poor Baby! As I said... before while doing the long distance relationship, I would miss him, yes. But now, I miss him when he goes to freakin' work and get really happy when he comes home! I'm an idiot.

Sam made plans to bring me to an Angels game the same day and time I'm meeting with another client. I'm hoping I can change the time with her but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I should really be packing for Laughlin, huh? Maybe tomorrow... or even Friday morning?

I love being taken care of. I've been sick and coughing and Sam's really good at making sure I take my medicine. Overall, I love my married life!! <3

New Start...

Ahhh.. I know that its been awhile since I have posted anything but its been one crazy ride for me (as you may already know).

This week will be the first week of having an almost normal life and schedule and trying to get the swing of things. We shall see how it goes.

Updates? Hmmmm... my Parents are doing great and are back at home now... safe and sound. The rest of my Family, however, has been sick ever since they got back home. Sam and I have been sick as well, and are still coughing up our lungs but at least we're still breathing. Oh yeah... my second wedding reception in Long Beach was a disaster (to me and in my opinion), but I don't really want to get into that right now because it would just kill my mood and spirits for the rest of the day... and we don't want that, do we? Maybe I'll get into it another time when I'm not in such a great mood. We are almost all moved in now... still have to pick up the mirror for our dresser, but that should be the last of it. I love our new sectional couch because there's plenty of room to lounge around and it is so comfortable! The IKEA couch is sitting there looking pretty sad next to this and we considered getting rid of it, but we have room for it and its more seats for when we entertain, so it shall remain for now. Loving our new king sized bed and bedset... but still have to get more sheets to fit the darn thing (I love nice sheets... they make my night!). Overall, I'm loving the married life so far, but it may be too soon to tell. We shall see! ;)

I'm adjusting to living in California pretty well, but I still get kind of lonely. Was on the phone with Mommy this morning and I miss waking up to the loud chaos downstairs every morning. I'm excited to go home in October.

More updates later, but right now.... I should be job searching. Wish me luck! *hugs from California*

April 21, 2009

Oh Man...

I am sooooooooooooooo excited to marry my Baby already!

Seriously... the nice weather is making me so giddy and happyyyyyy! :D If you want anything from me, today is the day. I'm in a great mood! LOL

The thing is... its only 66 degrees and I'm already sweating up a storm. I think I'm going to need to buy some sort of sweat absorbent clothes for CA!

February 17, 2009

YAY me!!

I'm marrying the same Man twice... in two different states!

July 18th and August 22nd, 2009

Yeah... I guess I do love him that much to marry him twice, huh? :D
