I love me some SCALLOPS!

Sam and I loooooove scallops.  We had some of the best scallops at this Chinese restaurant awhile back and I wanted to try making it one day.  Well, we bought scallops the other day and I decided to give it a go.  I didn't follow any recipe and just winged it from what I remember eating.  Not to toot my own horn, but it was soooooo good!  I've decided to share my recipe... just because I am THAT cool!  :)

And yeah, I know that this being fried and drenched in butter isn't the healthiest thing to eat, but it surely will melt in your mouth!  If you don't want to eat it, just make it and I will eat it for you.  You are welcome.

Thyda's House Special Scallop Recipe (LOL)
  • Large Scallops (about 15 pieces)
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1.5 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic (chopped)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Green Onions (2 tablespoons chopped)
  • OPTIONAL - 1 Jalapeno (sliced)
  1. In a small (deep) saucepan, heat up about 1.5 cup of vegetable oil
  2. Rinse and dry scallops
  3. Lightly coat scallops with flour (all over)
  4. Once oil is hot, slightly lower temperature to medium high
  5. Drop (gently) each scallop into hot oil and let cook for about 5 minutes (remove and drain on paper towel once done)
  6. In a separate pan, heat up about 2 tablespoons of butter
  7. Saute' chopped garlic until slightly golden
  8. Add sliced jalapenos into pan and continue to saute'
  9. Add scallops into pan with butter, garlic, and jalapeno
  10. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and continue to sautee
  11. Add chopped green onions (not for too long, don't overcook)
  12. Remove from heat and serve

Happy Birthday to my Sista from anotha Motha & Mista!

My Sista from anotha Motha and Mista turned 26 the other day!

We celebrated with some good eats at MESA in Costa Mesa.  The pizza there was delicious!  The mussels sounded and looked good, but I must say that it was a tad bit disappointing to see how small they were (that's what she said... hahaha!).  The black cherry lychee martina was soooooo good though!  Just thinking about it now makes me thirsty!

We hopped over to AVEC in Huntington Beach right after dinner.  It was such an adventure getting there, but it was worth it!  We stumbled all over the place and dance floor after our Jager Bomb.  This was the most alcohol I've had in a VERY long time.  Usually, I'd have a glass of wine at home, but even that was running low!  Anyway, of course I was the usual hustler and got the Birthday Girl a few free (well, free for us) drinks.  The last drink I remember having was a chocolate cake... and as usual, it didn't disappoint.  We continued to dance the night away.  I thought I forgot how to dance or something because it had been THAT long.  Luckily for me, I didn't break a bone or pull anything, which was actually a surprise!  Oh... and I guess the people who sing "We run LA" were there performing and of course, I was the groupie poser who don't know who they were but pretended like they were my favorite group.  The main dude apparently grabbed my hand while he was on stage and I just giggled and walked away, or so I was told.  I honestly don't remember that part too much, but I guess I can say that I saw another famous person and he touched my hand. HAHA... I wish someone would have gotten a picture of that as evidence and so that I'd remember.  Oh well... always next time, right?  They looked like little young bucks anyway... just see the picture below.

(I just looked it up... the person who sang this song's name is 'Ya Boy'. LOL... I guess you can see his picture below)

Of course, we ended the night with some pho.  Thanks to the table of dudes who decided to pay for our meal... but no, we are NOT going to hop in that limo with you fools!

The best part of the night was probably when we were singing on the way home.  From Huntington to Long Beach, the singing didn't stop.  I think I have some recorded on my phone (audio only).  Anyone know a good website to upload it to so that I can share it? LMAO!  Classic.

Oh what a night, it was!  I love nights like that when its just all the girls dancing the night away and laughing our butts off non-stop.  Good times, indeed!

P.S.  I inconveniently forgot my camera at home that night (boo), so I had to steal these pictures from Jackie and Diana's facebook.

P.S.S.  My hair was still wet (had to shower before going out), so don't mind the mess. LOL!

Mussels! (Looked better than it tasted)

Pizza! Serina said it smelled like armpits, but it tasted good to me! I like armpits. LOL

LADIES!! (I hope that is not a pee stain on the ground. Gross)
Jager Bomb! Oh man... makes me feel YOUNG again!
Uh oh... here we go!
GONE! LOL!

They were runnin' LA... in Huntington Beach! LOL
Happy Birthday, Sissy! I love you so badddddddd! XOXO

EDIT: Here are the videos on the audio (does that make sense?).  Puahhahahah!  If I need a good laugh, I just replay this and relive that night.  Please don't mind us and if you are not going to appreciate our singing talents (hahaha), just skip it and don't watch altogether.  Cool?  Oh man... good times!

Fire in the HOLE!

Can you take a guess what "Fire in the Hole" means or what it represents?  I give you a clue... spicy food.  Now... which hole do you think would be on fire?  Haha... eww... I just got visuals!

Had an amazing dinner with friends last night.  I've been craving CLAWS for so long and it was about time I filled that craving.  It was sooooooo good, but it wasn't such a good idea to have it when my infection is not yet healed.  I came home and was in pain, but the nomnomness was so worth it... I think... I hope.

I can't seem to understand why I cannot just follow the rules.  I knew that I shouldn't have spicy foods, but I just wanted it even more after knowing this.  WHY must I be so hard headed at times?  And now, I suffer because of it.  Ugh.

I need to stop looking at the picture because now, I just want it even more.  After putting it in writing that I shouldn't have it, I just want to chug it all down now.  WHAT is wrong with me?

Don't you just hate that?  Wanting what you can't have?  I am allergic to seafood and shouldn't even eat seafood, but knowing that I am allergic, it just tastes so much better!

What are some things that you can't have but you want even more?  I know I am not the only rebel here, am I?

Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival

This past weekend, my friends and I attended the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival.  I've been looking forward to it for weeks because I love festivals, carnivals, and food... especially lobsters!

Yumm, right?  These lobsters were perfect!  I honestly didn't expect it to taste so yummy because I've heard some horrible things about the Lobster Fest and the Crawfish Fest that they have annually.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I killed mine real quick... and had room for so much more!  Ahhh... so good!

We also shared some funnel cake!

I cannot believe they ran out of strawberries and whipped cream... I was pretty upset.  I had to settle with chocolate and caramel... which was actually pretty good.  The other downfall was that this one was soft... not crispy like how I usually like my funnel cakes.

Reminds me SOOOOOO much of the Puyallup Fair... I miss doin' the Puyallup!  The good ol' days... that one needs a post all in itself... with pictures and all.  Makes me miss my friends so much.  Ahhh...!

What is your favorite fair/carnival activity?  More importantly, what is your favorite fair/carnival FOOD??

On a FULL stomach!

Of course, another useless post by yours truly. I am just laying in bed right now just trying to get the hang of this blogger app on my phone. Husband is finally uploading a few of the pictures from Hawaii and I am just laying here... lard and plump and in food coma. Ahhhh!

Today, Hubbs was feeling a little bit better. He had been sick for about a week now. What gets me is that he felt all better enough to go for a round of golf with the guys yesterday but wasn't feeling good when he got home. Gee... I wonder why! Anyway, we decided to go out for some fresh air and of course, shopping! I have issues... I am an unemployed shopaholic. We went out to dinner and was treated with some yummy dessert.

BEFORE

AFTER

So now, I am laying here on an overly full nearly explosion stomach. This is not a good feeling.

Tomorrow, I will start my diet.

(Maybe)

GOODNIGHT!

Sunny Sunday Funday... MAYBE.

Yesterday was such a loooooooong day!  I originally had a date with a few of my girlfriends to go see Alice in Wonderland at the El Captain theater.  I had already seen it with Sam, though... and some of the other girls couldn't get out of some of their other engagements so we sort of canceled.  Thank goodness because I was trying to figure out how I was going to stop myself from poking myself in the eye or stabbing myself trying to watch it a second time.  Am I the only person in the world who didn't like it?  Well, I've never really liked the story of Alice in Wonderland to begin with, so... I should have known.  OH... and the 3D portions was for about 3% of the movie.  I would NEVER see this movie again.  Sorry to all the Alice in Wonderland fans... thats my truth.

Sam had to work a 12 hour shift.  Poor guy... and then on top of it, he had to stay another hour behind.  Grrr... what are they doing to my Husband?  He had called me in the afternoon to tell me that he was bringing me out on a dinner date (yay).  So... I got ready and waited.  I got bored while waiting and this is the result of that:

He finally got home and to be honest, I was so lazy and didn't really care to go anywhere anymore... I just wanted to crack open a bottle of Riesling and watch FRIENDS.  Yup... thats what I find enjoyable nowadays.  Boring, right?  Anyway... we went out to dinner anyway because Sam had bought a gift certificate type of thing from restaurant.com that we needed to use before it expires.  Food was decent, but I would never want to go there during that hour again because the music is too loud and we couldn't even hear each other speak.  We were frustrated and I had to stop myself from marching up to their sound booth or whatever and turn down the volume.  I just wanted to get out of there.  Don't get me wrong... I'm appreciative of Sam trying to be sweet and bring me out on dates, but now we just learned that its not really a good place for date night.

I think I ate a bit too much for my own good because I came home and passed out in my makeup and contacts.  So much for my resolution of showering in the evenings and always taking off my makeup at night, right?

My Sister is coming over tonight to pick up her license plate tabs that I got for her from WA.  Yeah, her license plate is still a Washingtonian... just like we are.  Always and forever, baby!  She asked if I want to join her and her former coworkers for dinner and drinks.  I am torn because I would love to go, but I am just lazy and don't want to interfere on them catching up.  I have this tendency to change subjects and blurt out random things and that would be RUDE of me to do it to strangers who might have real things to talk about.  However, I could go and network... bat my eyelashes and release some of my charm on them and maybe they'd hook it up with a job?  I hope and I pray and I wish and I hope.  To go... or not to go?

I told myself that I was going to go jogging this morning.  Instead, I am sitting here in bed watching people run in the LA marathon.  Does that count?  o_O

Last week... through pictures!

Its been a long time!! Okay not really... its been three days, but thats a long time to me! :D Let me sort of tell you about my week through pictures (or try to at least)

Okay this was from last weekend, but here is Sam and I on our way to eat dinner with my Sister and her Boyfriend. It was this picture that made me realize how much my teeth have yellowed... I blame the coffee without the straws! My teeth are too sensitive to whiten at home... wahhh!

For a non-sushi buffet, this place had a great selection. Yummm... *licks lips at the thought of it* I love sushi... a little bit too much for my own good. Talk about carb overload. I blame my many weight gains on my love for sushi and rice. I can eat rice with anything! WHITE rice! I've given brown rice many tries and I can't seem to force myself to fall in love with it. Love cannot be forced... not even with food. (I can't believe I have to try to force myself to love any kind of food. Weird.)

One of the dinners we had last week... papaya salad. Yummm again! This could have been a little bit more spicy though. Living with Sam and eating with him every single day has heightened my tolerance for spicy foods. I love it! Fire in the hole though... haha! Sorry, TMI!

Just wanted to show you my mornings. Cereal w/ strawberries and on my laptop... literally. LOL. It can only keep me full for so long though. Its only a matter of minutes until I find my way back into the kitchen for other foods.

I thought about going back to post all the foods I've tried to cook in the past, but I said, nah... forget it. There are times when I cook better stuff but forget to take pictures. BLAH. BUT... here are some that I took recently.

One of the dinners last week. I made chicken fettuccine w/ homemade pesto sauce and turkey bacon wrapped asparagus. Can't wait to make it again because I loved it! OH... and I throw tomatoes on everything, so don't mind it. :)

An after work snack I made for Hubbs... calamari. So fattening... but we love calamari. OH... and I tried to replicate this "hot" sauce from this one restaurant and it wasn't exactly like theirs, but its pretty tasty. One day, I will patent it.

We don't have a fondue thingy... YET... but I made it work and it was delish! LOL. What I did was I boiled water in a small pot and this ceramic bowl fit perfectly over it and just melted one of my Ghiradelli chocolate bars in it and VOILA! Worked like a charm! Wish I had more fruits and marshmallows. Next time, I'm gonna try a cheese fondue! Wish me luck!

I think we were on our way to go shopping... not sure. BUT yeah... we did some damage at South Coast Plaza. I love that place... its not TOO overcrowded with teenagers (not when I went, anyway) and there are just so many things that I can't afford. Therefore, I wouldn't really spend that much or as much as I would like. Sam sort of splurged, but he really deserved it. I'm not so much in a shopping at the mall mood anymore because teedaloo.com lets me be lazy and shop and find exactly what I want from so many different stores all at once. Love that thing! ;)

The last three pictures were from a restaurant that could possibly be my new favorite restaurant in So.Cal. Sam actually already requested to have his birthday dinner there this year. LOL! The ambiance was amazing and the customer service was incredible. I loooooved it. And surprisingly, its an Asian restaurant. The food was so delicious too! I need to yelp it... find it on there later, will yah?

Hot Pot Sunday lunch at home... I had to add my picture coaster in the picture, just because. LOL. We eat way too much for our own good. Oh well... we only live once, right?

Sunday... the day of the Oscars, I forced Sam to bring me hiking at Runyon Canyon. I've been wanting to check this place out in forever and I miss hiking! The hike itself was about 2 miles round trip, so it wasn't bad at all. Sam and I took about 45 minutes to hike it round trip, but it sure is a sweat buster. Sam sweated a gallon... at least.

The good ol' Hollywood sign. So many nice houses below that thing that I can only dream of being any closer to. *sigh*

Don't be fooled. The stairs didn't make the hike any easier. In fact, it made it harder (in my opinion). All I gotta say is that my buns better be steel after another hike at this place!

Its nothing like hiking in Washington since the whole trail is paved, it seems, but it was still a nice work out and worthwhile.

Helicopters were surrounding the Kodak theater. LOL... no wonder there weren't any celebrity sightings on this trail!

Okay... sick of my pictures yet? I'm just trying to clear up some pictures on my phone and getting it ready for the week back at home. Pictures of my kiddos... thats for sure! I'm sooooooooo excited, I can't hide it! My nephew called me the other day and asked me "how many more days is it going to be until you come home?" I told him, "three more days", and he goes, "Yayyyy!" That almost made me cry! Then I asked him if he had eaten yet... well, here is how the conversation went:

Auntie Thyda: Did you eat yet?
Nephew: Yes... I had spaghetti.
Auntie Thyda: Who made it?
Nephew: E-Peou (my sister, his other aunt)
Auntie Thyda: Was it good?
Nephew: Mmmm... yours is better.
Auntie Peou In The Background: EXCUUUUUSE ME?

LOL! That boy knows how to make my day... always! I can't wait to see him and have him hug me to sleep... he's the best at it! If I have a kid, I want him to have a heart just like my nephew, Justin. Words can't explain how much I love that kid.

So right now, I must clean up and start to pack for my 5 days back at home.

I hope everyone else has a great week and I think I might just come back on when I'm done to talk about my Alice in Wonderland experience yesterday. LOL

Teedaloo!

Avatar Day... highly anticipated and so worth it!

Yesterday was one of those days that I truly enjoy. Just a nice day of relaxing and being in good company. The great food we had played a major role in it too, of course!

Sam had been making a really big deal over the movie Avatar. To be honest, I had NO idea what it was nor did I even want to bother with it. I actually suggested that he goes see it while I go see Precious because it is more my type of movie. He actually got pretty upset and was probably irritated by the idea that I didn't even want to give it a try. I heard good things about it, but I had no idea what it was about. All I really heard was that it was about blue people... and it was somewhat of a cartoon. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi type films and almost always fall asleep in them. But fine... I'll give it a try!

I heard that tickets were sold out almost instantly, but we figured that it couldn't be THAT bad two weeks after it hit theatres. We planned on meeting up with the Lok's and the Long's around noon to purchase tickets for the 3pm show. Got a call from Durand at 10 something saying that those tickets are already sold out. WTF! We wanted to make sure we see it in 3D and on IMAX and we weren't going to settle for less. So... the next showing was at 7pm, and by 10, it was halfway sold already! Alright... no more risks... we got the tickets! We met up for some Korean BBQ at 12:30pm and I am proud to say that Sam and I were NOT the last ones there! YAY us!! The food was pretty good but I admit that I wasn't full to the point I had to readjust my belt like I usually do going to a Korean BBQ, but I was satisfied!! We had a few hours to kill afterwards, so they picked up some King Crabs in Santa Ana and brought it over for them to hang out in the sink while we planned on taking a nap on our comfy couch. I think all 6 of us were too excited to even fall asleep so time flew by and we left our place since 5pm! We got our Starbucks and waited in line without sitting down from then until 7pm because there was already a long line to get in the theatre by that time. People are crazy and love their movies, I guess! Anyway... I won't spoil the movie but all I can say is that it was a GREAT movie and I would have been so mad at myself if I really did miss it. A little longer than I had liked, but I barely noticed because I was so into the movie. You MUST see it in 3D... there is just no other way. The graphics and animation is just amazing and I can see why it took so long and cost so much money to make. Worth it though... especially since they already made their money back within the first couple of days, I heard. Amazing! Go see it... please!

I was worried that the crabs that were hanging out in our sink found their ways back to the ocean since it was only two blocks away. Luckily, they were still in the sink ready to be our dinner. I know it sounds cruel, but those suckers were tasty and Sam made a really good dipping sauce for it. OMG... I'm salivating at the thought of it! We killed almost all 6 of the huge crabs... I can't wait to have it again. Hopefully soon? Ended the night in food coma and ice cream. Had to save the brownies for another time. Too bad Sam had to work early this morning so everyone left around 12:30am. We should have partied longer! JK!

See... a nice and relaxing Sunday with good company. It doesn't get any better! :) Can't wait to have more relaxing and fun days like that again.

Turkey Palooza Update

On Saturday, we hosted a Thanksgiving Turkey Palooza... where we ate our hearts out and laughed our butts off with some of the greatest people we call our friends. It was a nice get together and I am still wondering how we were able to fit 21 people into our living room without anyone getting hurt.

Durand and I teamed up and made this collage for my wall while Sam was at work. It was all Durand's idea and he started it... I just added on. He's genius!

The food was great, the company was wonderful, the drinks were bubbling, and the laughs were ongoing. I couldn't have asked for more.

OH... I almost forgot to mention that we somehow came with an interesting and random game of pin the "T" on the turkey. Look at my collage above and use your imagination, its probably what you imagine it to be. Hilarious!

I also realized that I am getting old. Actually, seems like our whole crew is getting old. We were drained and half asleep by 10pm! Wow... 25... right around the corner. This is scary.

More pictures of the palooza to come!!

Taco Tuesday!!

What a day! Where did the time go? Seriously, I didn't even realize what time it was until Sam rang the doorbell (he scares me when he tries to let himself in with a key. Don't know why I am so jumpy and get scared of the smallest and expected things). Yes, I did fall of a tangent and got sidetracked with a few minor things, but my brain needed a break! Twitter us a huge distraction!

Our Christmas tree is up and its pretty, but I want to add a few more things before I can say that its DONE. I love Christmas time and having the tree up without any presents under there (yet! Lol) makes me miss home. Haha! Hopefully I get to go home for Christmas and I am crossing my fingers that Sam's work schedule allows him to also. He would love Christmas at home... one of our living rooms is always flooded with presents because there are so many darn kids in the family.

Speaking of family, my nephew Justin was chatting with me via GMail last night! He's 9 and is easily the coolest kid around. I really want him to come visit me soon. Should see our conversation, its hilarious! How I miss that kid so much!

And speaking of kids, I have a confession! THIS MIGHT BE A LITTLE TMI FOR MOST!!! I didn't get my period last month and was worried that I might be pregnant. But then again, my period had always been irregular and there were times when I didn't have intercourse and wouldn't have my period so I didn't panic too much. Yesterday, I got my period! Hallelujah!! Hahaha!! Sorry... had to share! Whew!

Okay. Time for Taco Tuesday AKA GRUBBBBB time!!!

November 13, 2009

Friday the 13th!

Yeah... today is Friday the 13th, alright. Hopefully today will be a great day... almost like yesterday.

We went to lunch with Louis and his brother. Sophy's, that is. Haven't been there in awhile, but I was torn between the salmon salad and salmon curry. Salmon salad it was! Yummmm!! The boys got their usual Thai Boats. I've never actually ordered one myself, but I have heard that its bomb diggity. Will try one day when I can steer away from the other options on the menu. I'm not a noodle/pho fan, but I'd eat it. We'll see.

Afterwards, we went to go check out the Verizon Droid. Whoopy. I don't like the bigger/bulkier one, but the cheaper one is a lot cuter and hey... I wouldn't mind having one. Hint hint. I just got my BB Tour less than three months ago, so I still need to break this one in. I shouldn't say that because breaking something is what I do best and I only meant that figuratively, not literally.

Then it was SHOPPING time! I admit, I didn't buy as much as I thought I would... which is a great thing! I've gained about 10 pounds within this past week (seriously), so I wasn't so much in a shopping mood. BLAH. Sam still thinks its ridiculous how I still have tags on most of the stuff in the closet, but its just I haven't found a perfect time/occasion to wear them yet. AND... I couldn't pass up on it. I have issues.

My in laws got some oysters and it was delish!! I don't know how they got such a great deal on such yummy oysters. Those things were HUGE and you can get food coma status type of full off only a couple. I had more than a couple though.. haha! There were so many left as we were leaving last night and they might just go to waste. Damn... I regret not eating more right now. WTF. HAHA! Soooooo good! I think I posted a picture on Twitter. LOL

Also got a chance to swing by an Asian supermarket and picked up some things. I am excited to try some new dishes!! Wish me luck! Maybe I should stay out of the kitchen on Friday the 13th though. Haha...excuses, excuses!

Then... we went and picked up some more FRIENDS DVDs!! One of my all time favorite shows. Although the show ended about 5 years ago, I still crack up from the episodes that were first aired in 1994. I was only 10 at the time and didn't enjoy them as much, but now I loooooove it!!

Overall, yesterday was a great day. Correction... a great fatty day!

November 2, 2009

Oh the festivities!!

First thing's first... thanks to whomever voted on the poll I posted last week. According to my research (LOL), it looks like Lauren has the best style of all the MTV reality series' actresses. (Yes, I called them actresses) Eh... I guess thats true... she has a mix of everything. For awhile, I thought Whitney had it best, but then she went too extreme for me to be different. Olivia always has a clean and polished look, but it could be a bit much. Audrina's grungy style is cute too, but only to an extent. Okay... Lauren it is! LOVE her!

So on Friday, somehow, I convinced 15 people to come with me to The Reef! It was so last minute, but I'm so glad they all came. Dinner and getting ready at my place first and then we headed out. My costume cost about $3 while Sam's cost $12. What can I say? We're cheap people! I was a lame ol' butterfly... Reading Rainbow's butterfly, to be exact! Sam was... the Joker... WHY SO SERIOUS? Hahaha... he was so ugly, I loved it! FUN times with good friends... what more can I ask for? Oh... the party at The Reef was fun, but it smelled so bad (with the exception of the top deck). I understand that the costumes can make you sweat, but damnnnnn!!!

(Sam got a wig, but it was gross so he didn't wear it and colored his hair instead)

Saturday morning, we decided to go over to Mikal and Paline's place for their annual Halloween party. Then... I learned that I could get Clippers' tickets for $1 each, and so I did! I know that the Clippers aren't the Lakers, but I've never been to the Staples Center and I really wanted to go. And how often would I be offered tickets for $1 each? Come on, dude! SO... we went over to the Lok's... ate some YUMMY food and hung out with their family for a bit. The food was so good and I almost changed my mind about leaving because it was THAT good. Mmmmm... wish I would have ate more, but I already gained literally 3 pounds that day. No joke! I'm still thinking about that dessert though... yummy! Took some pictures and made some cool glow in the dark glasses! HAHA... they were so cool!

Then, Lily, Durand, Sam, and I left for the Staples Center. The game was pretty intense at first... such a close game until the last half of the 4th quarter. This is exactly why I shouldn't go to sporting events because it stresses me out and I usually lose my voice from yelling out to the team and my hands hurt from clapping and cheering for them. Ugh. I don't even like either of the teams (don't care for them), but I was rooting for the Clippers because the Mavs had just beat the Lakers and it would be cool for the Clippers to beat a team that defeated the Lakers. LOL... I love pissing people (Lakers' fans) off. I'm horrible. Then... we went over to Dany's house and it was great to finally meet her after all these years. Of course, more yummy food!! No wonder I gained so much weight in one day!

Sunday... woke up for Sam's basketball game. I think their team would have won if it wasn't for the technical whatevers where the other team earned points because they didn't match in uniform. LAME. Glad Sam got to play again though... he really missed it, I can tell.

Then, we made our way to find some hearty Korean BBQ. Good meal after a game, according to Sam. I'm gonna have to agree and this will be my reason to make it to all of Sam's games... Korean BBQ after the game. HA!

Went dress hunting at the mall and my fat ass helped myself to some Gelato! LOL... wtf is wrong with me? Rented a movie on our way home... cleaned up the place (thank goodness), made dinner, then made it a movie night. Great night and was able to knock out in food coma. What a great feeling! Having an extra hour to stay in bed was wonderful... I love being lazy!

My friends Jenn and Joe are gonna come up for my birthday next month... YAY!! I'm so excited! Sam and I are heading up to WA this weekend for my family reunion and what do you know? It happens to be Jenn's bday too! What a coincidence! I'm so excited!

Okay... what to do today? Time for a new poll... yah? OKAY cool!

October 29, 2009

Yay... play with me!

Wow... I am actually shocked to see that others have responded and voted on the poll I put there on the side of this blog. Thanks for voting and keep voting because you have another day to do it. I figured it would be fun since I'm so into the show... mainly for their clothes! HAHA... its true! So... what do you think? Hmmm...?

Maybe I should make this a more interactive blog? It seems like no one ever really responds to me (okay they do... occasionally), so I'm really just talking to myself. I don't mind talking to myself... I really don't. BUT... its just funny and fun to actually have someone talk back to you. So... talk back to me, please!

Inspired by the Cheesecake Factory, I whipped up some Cajun Jambalaya Pasta last night. My brothers in law, my nephew, and their friend came over before basketball and they killed it! I really liked it. Anthony (my nephew) said it was too spicy, but too bad for him because thats how I like it! :) Too lazy to post any food pictures on this thing. Find it on FB.

We bought our tickets to Seattle last night (finally). Looking forward to our family reunion and it just so happens to be Jenn's birthday. Its also Pearly's birthday, but wouldn't be able to make it there. It was nice catching up with her this morning. She's been going through a lot lately and sometimes, its just nice to hear from a friend showing that he/she cares. Once I found out what had happened a few weeks ago, I called her right away. I know the feeling of going through tough times and sometimes, it only takes a phone call/text message/fb message from a good friend to make you feel better. Its times like that when you realize who your true friends are when they show that they are there for you through those dark moments. Love the girl... miss her!

Still don't know what to do for Halloween... slowly being convinced to go to the party at The Reef. Maybe... but I'm sort of lazy. Its tomorrow and I don't even have a costume yet. Heck... I don't even know what I want to be! HELP!!

I wonder what everyone else is doing/going to be for Halloween. Care to share?

We need to STOP!

We really really do. Two people should not be visiting Costco more than once a month. We're there about every week! Our original plan was to only pick up our pictures and this collage I had ordered (which is so cool, by the way), but tell me why we ended up spending nearly $200 yesterday on groceries that we probably don't even need. Okay fine, they're not all groceries, but they are household items that are probably necessary, but really... Costco sizes? Our place is getting a bit crowded and our fridge is overflowing. I have an addiction to buying things. Correction -- I have an addiction to buying things I don't need. Sam calls it "ka'pek ka'pok" stuff.... which is true. What's wrong with me?

From now on, I am going to try my best to reduce the number of things that I buy. I hope to not pay a visit to Costco again until another two months (except for the times when I need to pick up pictures... again).

BUT... the coupon book is just screaming my name! I'd feel like I'm missing out on a good deal if I don't use those darn coupons! Why did we spend $200 to save $18? HAHAHA! Its ridiculous. We need to stop... right now!

On another note, I made shrimp ceviche and fish tacos for the first time last night! Those who are my FB friends would know that I've made attempts at cooking and its not half bad, if I must say so myself. Sam is the worst (or maybe best) food critic ever! He notices every little thing... even if you are missing a few grains of salt! Its annoying... but at the same time, I'm thankful for his honesty. Now, he's actually really loving/enjoying my cooking and yesterday, he even told his parents that I'm a great cook. Very surprising because the guy doesn't give compliments to anybody. Just kidding... he's not that bad. Another ego boost for me! Whoopty doo... because I really need one, right? ;) (thats sarcasm just in case anyone didn't catch that). Back to what I was saying... I ate so freakin' much last night! I seriously was in such food coma that I don't think I even moved once in bed!

For those who don't know.. Southwest Airlines is having a 72 hour sale. Check it out! southwest.com

Photo Updates?

THIS is the TShirt that I got and have already worn it to bed once! :D

Ladies... if you are not going to be in the sun and are going to be indoors or take pictures with flash, please avoid using any SPF. It reflects light and can make you look ghostly pale with the flash. See above.

We are waiting for our dinner... hoping to see some hot sweaty pirates. Okay maybe not.

My sexy dark pirate! LOL! He was such a good sport!

At Mai Tai... what a fun night it was!

We finally had our girls' night... long overdue!! I always have a nice time with them... some of the sweetest, caring, and thoughtful girls you'd ever find! :)

Oh my gosh... our highly anticipated dinner at Guppy's! I couldn't stop thinking about it all week!

If I dazed off in conversations that week, its because I was thinking of this bad boy! It was sooooo yummy! (How do they run out of mangoes???)

Spontaneous Yogurtland Venting Pow Wow last night with Sovi and Yacky! Guess which one was mine!! HAHA... the fullest one, of course!

Why is it that I miss my Husband more now when he works overtime than when I was living a thousand miles away? Ahhh... weird.

Been working on a few new things and trying to organize my life (still). I can't even keep my bedroom in order because I have too much junk and when I am doing one thing, I get distracted and think/do another. Its horrible!

My brain had been stimulated the past few days... its a great, yet painful feeling. Now, I need to exercise my body. There are too many good foods down here and too many dessert joints (Guppy's, Yogurtland) for me to not. Although I must say that I did get asked if I have lost weight. Whoa... ego boost! Utilized my handy dandy Target scale and it looks like I did. Ain't stoppin' me now. I would still like to lose 35 pounds. Is that gross? LOL!

I can't believe its Halloween again already. No way am I spending over $50 on a costume I will wear once. HELL no. Call me cheap, but do you know how many clearance items I can get with that money and for sure I'd wear it more than once? Psssh! Which totally reminds me... need to consult with Sam to see what our plans are. Actually, just sent out an email to our friends. I hope they're up for hanging out with me. HAHA!

Alright... sort of late for my date with the beach. I usually cancel on it, but not today. HAHA!

Quick Update!!

Okay. Its been a few days since I've posted in here. Let me just take a few minutes (okay more than a few since I am on my phone right now) to update!

On Wednesday night... Sovina surprised us and brought us to Pirates Dinner Adventure for her birthday!! It was so thoughtful of her because we've never been. So much fun!!! We all really enjoyed ourselves there with a bunch of little kids! Of course they needed volunteers from the audience and all four of us happened to be the lucky chosen ones. Sovina and I were teamed up and we were in this competition with some other teams and of course, we won!!! Haha! The actors/entertainers were SO talented. I was beyond mesmerized! Ahhh! Thanks Sissy for such a wonderful time!

Last night, we went out to Mai Tai bar with Sam's coworkers and of course, Sovi came to my rescue and kept me company again! One of Sam's coworkers celebrated her birthday there and she complained on how she felt old and she just turned 24! What the heck! I admit... I still think 24 is old and am not accepting the fact I am turning 25 so soon. No way, jose!!

I got them drunk off my games... as usual! Those games are evil. I do need to come up with some new ones though! LOL!

We walked over to Gameworks and met up with Aida, her BF who is visiting from France, and his friend. They were so into video games... Unbelievable! We made our way to the karaoke lounge there and sang a few of my karaoke favorites. Then suddenly the manager at Gameworks brought us some yummy sangrias and said it was on the house. Sam and Jordan were sitting behind us, but I don't think the dude knew that those were our guys. Haha! Oops!

Finished it off with yummy spicy duck fried rice... came home and knocked the heck out! Ahhhh!

I've been working on a little project of mine and I swear... my brain is toasted! Sam came home and took the laptop away from me... it was THAT bad! I needed a break anyway.

Now... gotta get ready for dinner and Guppy's with the ladies! Its been awhile since we sat down and caught up with each other so I'm really excited!! Oh... And I've been thinking of brick toast and shaved ice all week long, its ridiculous!!

When Shall I Sleep?

I don't know why I procrastinate the way I do. I am easily distracted and its really killing me... how do I change that?

The guys came over for Poker as usual and I whipped up some firecracker chicken drumsticks and grilled beef and prahok for them. I was really disappointed in the prahok this time around and I think I know why... it was the different brand/type of prahok that I bought. I did it the exact same way I did before but for some reason, this one wasn't as yummy. :( Lesson learned.

I'm trying to organize my life and after all the tools that I've tried to use, it had only improved slightly. I just found another new tool tonight (not new to the world and not new to me either but I just didn't have an interest in trying it before... now I regret not trying it earlier. FML.)... so hopefully this one will get me on track!

Sovina and Jordan's birthday celebration tomorrow... well, today. What to wear? I have no idea. Sam doesn't know what to wear either. After tryin' to help her figure out some things, I think I enjoy planning/organizing events... just not when they are for myself.

I stress too much... not a good thing. Over things I shouldn't even stress about. Even my horoscope told me to calm down. What the heck!

Okay... yawning pretty badly. Goodnight!

Leaving... AGAIN.

Oh man... what a fun filled weekend it had been! Lets see...

Wednesday - EARLY flight to LB. The Man sitting next to me was telling me how he was coming down to LB for a Square Dance Convention. How interesting! So yeah... didn't get to sleep on the plane as I had planned. My nephew picked me up and I hung out with my nieces and nephews for a bit at my Sister's house. Clogged the toilet and everything! TMI... sorry... but true story! Sam picked me up with a rose on my seat in the car. How cute and sweet he can be sometimes. Keyword: SOMETIMES. We were able to check out some houses that I had seen online. Many didn't appeal to me so much, but it was okay. I guess I can't really hope or want too much with a budget like ours and only one source of income at the moment. Oops! Sweetie Sam (he was so on a roll that day for a minute) brought me to Yogurtland but surprisingly, I wasn't feelin' it and ended up not getting anything. Instead, Cha for Tea's popcorn chicken was pretty good... but nothing compared to Guppy's!

Thursday - Dropped Sam off at work and pretty much chilled out the whole day with his Mom. Finally picked Sam up (I love his schedule, BTW) and helped myself to a French sandwich. Yumm! I can't wait to live off those things when I move down here! HAHA jk! Then, Sam went to go drop off his passport stuff and as I was waiting in the car, I heard that MJ had passed and I couldn't help but get cold chills. I was shocked and for some reason, I saw him as a twenty something year old talented Man. I never realized he was already 50! RIP MJ and Farrah Fawcett.

We tried to take a power nap, but I was too excited for Mai Tai. Sam was meeting up with his coworkers for a drink at Mai Tai, but I insisted we go earlier for the Hang Ten happy hour thingy where there are actually specials on food. Oh man... we ate A LOT! I remember when Sam gave this waitress there a twenty something dollar tip for an eighteen dollar bill. WTF. She wasn't even THAT cute! To his defense, he was drunk. WHATEVS!! LOL! Anyway... I thought we were meeting up with a few coworkers... little did I know that we were meeting up with 30 or 40 something people. I had lots of fun though. His coworkers are kind of crazy... which I like. Totally my kind of people! :D Supposedly, Sam got approval for our marriage after some of them met me. WTF. I almost asked them who the hell they thought they were where Sam needs THEIR approval. HAHA jk... totally kidding! They're cool.

Friday - We got to sleep in until like... noon! Sam didn't have to work (yay!)... but as soon as we woke up, we took care of business. Not like that, you perverts!! We went to go book our photographer for our LB wedding reception. I admit... I did not like the guy nor his work, but f*ck it. I will hold my tongue and bite my lip... and keep the bitch in me inside. Ugh. Oh well. I'll just try my best to get ALL the good shots with Lok In The Moment at the wedding in Seattle. I know I wouldn't be disappointed there. We also got Sam's and his brothers' pants hemmed... which should have been done a long time ago, but whatever. We then met up with the rest of the gang for some Korean BBQ. Yummmm! Originally supposed to go try Shabu Shabu since the Long's were ravin' about it, but it was too late and we were all too hungry to wait for the drive out there. The waiter at the Korean BBQ place probably hated us and when we were done, he said, "Finally". LOL! Cracked me up! We then called it a night because it was late and everyone was all too tired and we had to get up bright and early for the Mac <3 Hui wedding the next day.

Saturday - WEDDING Dayyyyy!! Mac and Sivhui looked GREAT and their wedding ceremony went really well! I loved how it somewhat looked like they were on a stage and the space was plenty. Oh... so Mac sent Sivhui a text message that morning and she told us about it. Of course, our nosey butts wanted to read it too, so she showed it to us. Paline, Lily, Lyna, and I couldn't make it past the fourth word in the message without starting to cry. WTF. We stopped at, "No matter what happens..." because we couldn't take it anymore. WHY are we so sappy and such babies? Haha! We finally made it through the entire message... but it was so hard not to cry. Sivhui cried again! LOL... it was cute and so sweet. Mac is officially the sweetest guy out of the group and Sam still has a lot of work to do. And I mean a lot! HAHA... jk... but not really kidding. Too bad we missed the breakfast slightly (Sam's fault... I swear), but we surely didn't miss out on the lunch! We sat at the table closest to the food (of course) and our hungry asses... we didn't even wait for all the food to come out yet before serving ourselves. The food was delish and I was somewhat in pain after eating because I ate THAT much. Oh man!

I managed to make it to the mall by myself while Sam took a nap after the ceremony looking for a dress and maybe some shoes. I ended up buying some shoes... but they weren't for the wedding (oops). Couldn't find a dress that I was too crazy about, so I ended up wearing a dress I already had. Got home about 2 minutes before the Lok's got there. Darn them for always being on time. We need to learn a thing or two from them. Mikal was smart and picked up some chicken sandwiches for us while we waited for the Long's to get there. Luckily we all ate some of it because the food wasn't served until much later. I would have been an angry camper at the reception if it wasn't for that sandwich! The wedding was beautiful! The couple was beautiful! Ahhh... it was perfect! We all went a little camera crazy... but it was fun. I can't wait to see all of the pictures! Mac made us cry again when he sang to Sivhui while they danced. Damn... where does he learn all the sweetness from? Overall, it was a great wedding and we all had so much fun! Congratulations to the beautiful couple! We predict that they will have a honeymoon baby because every family member of theirs who recently got married has a honeymoon baby! Hehe... I can't wait! Stayed up until nearly 3am just chatting with Thep and Samorn. Ahhh... I love them! :)

Sunday - CJ invited Sam to play a game with his team. I know that Sam missed playing so he just HAD to go. I didn't mind it so much... I actually enjoyed watching the game (surprisingly). They won (yahhhhh!). Then, we went out to lunch where I choked on a duck bone and Sam made me realize that I don't chew my food. LOL. I'm such a dumbass for that. From now on, I will try my best to chew my food! Then, we ran a few errands and picked up some things for the wedding. Most importantly, we picked up my wedding gown. I'm not so crazy about the overpriced (IMO) French lace, but oh well. Other than that, I love it... and Sam loves it! He didn't see me in it (he's more superstitious than I when it comes to this), but he still loved it... which made me really happy! :) Came home and Sam and I worked on our CA wedding invitations together. It was fun! He was so good at it too! I wish he would have been able to help me with the WA ones and be there to help me with favors and other little DIY projects that I need to finish. Oh well... when we live together, we'll work on little projects together often. Or so I hope!

My Sister invited us over to hers and her boyfriend's place in Costa Mesa for a little BBQ. Yummmmm! Good food and I think I ate too much because I knocked out the entire drive home and knocked out right away in my jeans and contacts and everything when we got home. LOL!

Monday - Killing time and waiting for Sam to get off work so I can go bye bye back home. Oh sh*t... I think my laundry is done! Toodle loo!

I'm going CoCoa!!

I don't know how or why I got so addicted to these! I can eat them ALL day! OMG... and it actually makes me drink more milk (does the body good). I know that they're not the best/healthiest thing for you... but they're so good! HAHA... Rocky thinks that I'm weird because I'm so addicted to them. My nephew got me hooked on them!

I love chocolate. Oh my gosh... I could really go for some chocolate covered strawberries right now. Ahhhh! I work out to eat. 99.2% of the time though, I eat without working out. Sad, huh?

Ahhh... I need a nap. Going into food coma because of those darn cereal straws! LOL

Cherishing the Moments...

Definitely cherishing the moments.... definitely!

Its been awhile since I've been out with my Girlfriends. Jenniponi picked me up today for our picnic lunch date. She packed such a healthy and yummy lunch with tons of snacks for me! We decided to have our picnic at Redondo Beach. It was nice and peaceful and so perfect (a little cold, but still perfect... almost). Wanna see what she packed for me???

-YUMMY Shrimp, Spinach, Peppers, Peas, Cucumbers, Carrots, Feta Cheese, Almonds, Cranberry Raisins Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette (sooooooooooooooooooooooo good)
-Strawberry Yogurt
-REAL and FRESH strawberries (not frozen... yay!)
-Wheat Thins (14 pieces... LMAO!)
-Apple (forgot to eat it... whoops!)
-String Cheese (how the heck did they get both cheeses in one? HAHA)

She insisted on packing our picnic lunch! It was fantabulous! Well, we only had the salad and yogurt for lunch, but she made sure that we snacked throughout the day every hour or two hours. It was hard work constantly eating, but she's right... I wasn't STARVING later. Thanks Jenniponi! Our picnic was so romantic... reminded me of our good ol' days. LOL!

Went to Starbucks (of course) and as I was paying for our coffee, Jenn got so excited and goes, "oooooooooh shoot... they got a banana, cuhz!!!"... in her ghetto ass tone and even bent over with her hand fisted in front of her mouth and everything. I was like, "WTF, Jenn!!!" She said that she got it from her ghetto students... it really rubbed off, as you can see. The cashier was pretty amused too and I couldn't stop laughing about it for about an hour. We ran into our old high school friend Noah afterwards and we tried to tell him, but he didn't think it was that funny. Its just something that you just gotta be there for to fully get the picture. HAHA!

We went to Alfred Angelo hoping to find my wedding dress. BLAH... unsuccessful. We visited a few other bridal shops and different stores for wedding stuff and surprisingly, we came across THE perfect Bridesmaids' dress... except in a different color. We found out that they have a bigger selection in Bellevue, so off we went! To our wonderful surprise, we found THAT dress in MY color. I seriously almost cried tears of joy!!! Ranny came to meet up with us and I tried to trick her as to which dress was mine, and she called bullshit on me. LOL! Then I tried to convince her that this other dress was THE one, and she said, "thats Jenn's dress!". The funny thing is... Jenn and I were joking about that dress being her dress ALL day (it was pretty hideous). Then she looked around and I told her to pick the dress that she thought I had picked out and she picked it up right away! She's amazing and knows Jenn and I both way too well. The girls loooooooooooooooooooooooved the dress and there was no way in hell we were passing it up. We picked them up for Mary and Vany too... and there is no way that they can NOT like the dress. Its perfect! Thank goodness its not a cookie cutter typical Bridesmaids' dress... thank goodness!

Went to go have SUSHI at Muckleshoot (sooooooooooo good) and Mary met up with us. (YAY!!) We stayed there for literally 3... almost four hours! We had a LOT of catching up to do. Good times indeed. Its been decided that I'll be running a half marathon in June. OMG... I'm so nervous! Also STOKED about Cancun!!!! Its going to be CRAZY and I really can't wait! Also had a run down of my wedding with them. Oh man... they're in for a ride! LOL!

Still couldn't get enough of each other, so we somehow, someway, spent nearly $50 at a candy store (right after we sat there discussing methods to lose weight for Cancun... haha).

Then... went to go see a movie and I just got home. I feel so bad because I came home and found out that my Dad fell in the bathroom upstairs. I panicked and was terrified. :( My Mom had called, but my phone died. He's okay... but it still worries me and makes me even more paranoid to leave the house. Apparently, he was bending over to grab something and just kept falling and tumbling. I now feel guilty for having (or did have) a great day. :( *sigh*
